A champion team AND a team of champions!!

Matthew Hayden had a great year, 6 centuries, over 1000 runs and averaged over 60 in Tests and graduated to the number 1 rated batsman in the world in one-dayers and came fourth.

Ricky Ponting did a touch better on aggregate and average in Tests did a great job as captain of the one-day team and came second.

Shane Warne took over 60 wickets @ 18 in Tests and came third.

Glen McGrath, Justin Langer and Jason Gillespie came somewhere after that.

Well done, Adam Gilchrist! He will look back at this award and be extremely proud, not that he isn't already.

I'd like to add this. If Warney hadn't missed the last two Tests and the last 4 or 5 one-dayers, he would probably have won.

LoL I agree with you Fradam about Richie opening the envelope to tell us who the winner was when we already knew that was driving me absolutely mad!
