What about Lukosius at the GC? Rumors of discontent from him, not enjoying where he is being played apparently....younger and more upside than McStay

If he’s not happy being played as a forward at GC (which is where he’s been playing this year) then why would he be happy playing as a forward for us?Ronnie McKeowns boots wrote:What about Lukosius at the GC? We need someone who is 195cm plus, 100 kgs and a proper forward. Look to the state leagues and bring one in during this mid season draft.
Mihocek needs help!!
Beware the swooping Magpie.

Money be okay but Not the Contract LengthPresti35 wrote:The rumour is an unnamed Victorian club has made an offer to McStay that could be in the vicinity of a six-years and $600,000 per season.
Is he worth that? He'll be 32 by the time that contract would end. I wonder which club it is?

Lukosius is not a key forward. He's more suited as a third tall defender or tall running wing. His field kicking is sublime and he reads the play well behind the ball. He is not a solution to KPF woes.
McStay has garnered attention on the back of 1 very good game earlier in the season - after playing for 9 odd seasons and 100+ games. At best, he is a complementary tall forward and not a focal piece. It's all well and good to have complementary tall forwards, as long as they are complementing someone other than another complementary piece. He is not the answer as we have Checkers who does what McStay does, only much better. The difference is that McStay has Daniher and Hipwood to compliment and we have noone of that caliber (regardless of whether you like or appreciate those 2).
We have a tall mobile option in Krueger (if his body is up to it) and a perfect complimentary tall in Checkers. What we need is a number 1, a definite, game changing power forward. These don't grow on trees and thinking a bit player or a positional shift from a player at another club is the answer is just not going to work.
It's a top end draft pick, or a very big trade/FA that gets it done.

and by the way, when we get him, we'll all bitch and moan that we paid overs and shouldnt have done that to retain top talent......Boogie Knights wrote:Lukosius is not a key forward. You should look at the top 20 breadwinners in the AFL. It now includes Cameron and Joe Daniher.
Could you imagine the gaskets that would have blown if we paid $900k per year for Daniher and he didnt kick 19 goals a game!!
