These are the games that most good teams win, and win easily. We will thump the Blues. 95 points.

I hope it's a good close contest, with plenty of strong but fair physical clashes, great skills shown by players of both sides, no quarter asked or given, with supporters of both sides overflowing with emotion walking out arm in arm after the game where a draw would be the only fitting result.

This game if far from a certainty. JLC got it spot on about their veterans being fired up after the battering they've copped in the media all week. We're in a very similar position to the Round 3 game least year. Once again they've been thumped by Sydney, once again they've been bagged in the media all week and once again we're odds on favourites to win. Without Josh, Presti and Burns we can't be too complacent.

We're going to have some hassles manning up on Mckernan, Whitnall and Fevola. The December 31 specialist is in career best form, but Jimmy should be able to do the job. Wakes will probably take Mckernan, but that leaves Cloke for Whitnall. As effective as Cloke is, it's not his go to be left one out, particularly against someone as smart as Lance. Don't exepect the likes of Whitnall, Mckernan, Kouta, Camporeale, Hickmott et al to play two absolute shockers in a row. Particularly against the Pies in Ratten's 250th.

We should win, but they'll no doubt lift for us as they normally do. I doubt it'll be the walk in the park everyone's expecting. Hopefully Hickmott, Kouta, Mckay, Ratten and Manton can't find their best form again and we trounce them, but we can't expect to just show up and slaughter em. Hulme and Murphy always play their best game of the year against us, but we're too talented to lose. I just don't think it'll be a trouncing. We'll see...

Pies rock, I agree with your sentiment, as for last year though we were certainly far from raging favourites, we'd lost to the tiges and had just beaten the weagles by a point at home! They will lift and barring an absolute quagmire (when did it rain last in Melbourne?) we will win convincingly.

Carlton had lost by 13 goals at Optus Oval against Sydney ?? Didn't score a goal in the second half ?? They only scored four behinds in the third quarter and were scoreless in the last quarter. I would have thought we should have been hot favourites to win. I think thats partly why i was so so so disappointed after tha game as i went there expecting to win by 10 goals

This was from onthepunt website:

BOOKIES WRAP
Carlton (2.10 into 1.90) 75 d Collingwood 55
- Late push for Carlton after Tarrant fails fitness test. $10K on Carlton at 1.90 with Centrebet; $6K at 2.10 Global.

True JLC, but what I meant to say was that our form was certainly far from impressive at that time as well.

Yeah i agree our form was pretty bad. The match that started the ball rolling and getting our season on track was beating Hawthorn at the G.

I guess we would all like to think that we have improved since last years first meeting whereas Carlton have stayed the same or gotten worse if anything :)

Whether we win by 1 point or by 101 points its sweet either way just beating Carlton! This is one game that we should not lose under any circumstances!

while we hate them, the blues are a proud club and particularly with rattens 250th, they will be no pushover. my main concern is licuria, cloke and hopefully at least one of presti and fraser returning without having played for about 3 weeks now.

Oh and Lica played for Willy in their practice game the week before the season started, so only 2 weeks ago. Though he looked a bit shaky if you ask me...not his usual self.
