Farewell #33 Jack Ginnivan
Moderator: bbmods
I'm actually embarrassed at the vitriol being directed at Ginni by Pies supporters. He was a crowd favourite in black and white, and clearly only sought to go to the Hawks when he realised his senior games with us were likely to be very limited next year. The kid is only 20 so ffs, please cut him some slack and wish him well, except when he plays against us.

Yeh, yrs ago out at waverly we are getting a hiding by the Hawks, as usual, all their stars on fire, , we were awful. Suddenly a voice from the outer, booms HEY HAWKS YOUR JUMPER COLOURS COME OUT OF MY ARSE AND DICK DAILY. That brought a big laugh, from the crowd.

It’s called venting.
We are all horribly disappointed in his behaviour. All year. He apparently fought to get back in the team, but he didn’t look that much fitter to me. He’s stevo mark 2 but with far less talent. He has footy smarts, but unlike the amazing Pendles, he wouldn’t do the work to bring out the beast consistently. That kick for goal in the GF was embarrassing. People say the young inexperienced Frampton didn’t do much but he ran his heart out and took a tall defender out of consideration for enough pats ofthe game.
Compare Bobby or Jamie’s game to Ginnies. What was the difference. Attitude and fitness. He was gifted the spot, and say what you like he stuck his finger up to the team with his grand final eve gambling fun. And then rubbed it in twice.
Anyone comparing him to JDG and his antics has rocks in their head. He doesn’t have 1/2 the raw talent and none of his beast mode. And Yesi wanted JDG gone after his last Oopsie. But man has he proved everyone wrong. Ginnie will never have his beast mode, as much as I have always appreciated his no whinge attitude when he gets flattened and the umps do nothing.
He’s now yelling to the rafters he’s living his dream come true. 3 weeks after he was gifted a premiership. My comment about the jumper is true, no one looks good in that jumper, it’s revolting!
I’m not seeing a lot of vitriol, it’s all pretty tame. Pissed off he is too gutless to fight for his spot.
I would never boo Taylor Adams, he would never stick the boot in. I wish him all good things, he’s given us his heart and soul. And He should have a 2023 Premiership medal around his neck.
Both Stevo and Henry gave us the middle finger, both copped their whack.
Ginnie I loved you, I laughed and I cheered and I clapped. I named my sheep after you, may he rest in peace. I wish like Hell you had his guts, he fought to live but I had to let him go. You quit. Go live your dream, but you’re dead to me. Booooooo

Good post there TP.
Take away venting and we're all just robots.
Love the comp to Norm and Billy. Both of them work their collective arses off. Billy at least twice took a mark in D50 in a tight game, effected the spoil against the Crows at the G to save the game and got the clearance to Jaicos to win the game against the Giants.

My last comment, for this thread, look, like many I had a lot of time for Jack, his antics, but not now. What he said, in a piss and poo jumper , "Where I really want to be, its a dream come true", WTF ????? what you ungrateful little turd, you were only biding your time with us the friggin PREMIERSHIP MEDAL was NOT a Dream come true ???? Plenty of former Magpies greats never got that medal YOU got, McKenna, Thompson, Price, Greening, Roccas, Burns, Bucks, to name but a few, they deserved one far far ahead of you. Fact is, you could have knuckled down, seen out you contract, worked hard, you would have got games, if you really applied yoursef, players get injured, like Naicos, for weeks, you would have got matches, but you are too bone lazy. Now, if youi expect to just glide into games at Hawks, without effort, you wiill be very disappointed. Mitchell is not like Fly, hes impatient, not a farthing of Flys patience to support you and put up with your off field shenanigans. Mitchell wont cop that shit you may well find yourself playing sunday arovs with the Box Hill Hawks. !
So go, bugger off then, until you said those vile comments, I was going to wish you no ill will good luck, but not now, you did not have to say hurtful crap like that to fans who did adore you. Karma can be a real bitch Jack, so you may find that out, at the piss an poo, time will tell. !!

You grow up , he could have said, " I had some great times at the Magpies, made great mates, great memories, the Premiership I will treasure that memory forever, I loved the fans there. But, I just feel its time to move on, to have a longer contract, and get more games into me, I feel Hawthorn can give me that chance, and I will do my very best for them"
NO he chose to hang **** on MY club, if you can put up with vile comments like that, good for you. I note you never had the guts to have a go at T P for HER venting, looks like she has you running scared. Piss off, you grow up.

It’s called being gracious to the club that agreed to his request. Surely he has to show a bit of humility? People here know that I was upset with Collingwood for agreeing to trade him but comments like this makes me think that he had a very good opinion of himself.Pies4shaw wrote:Grow up. BTW it’s crap to say that he was pushed under the bus. He jumped off.
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm

Ginnivan can play!
Seems to me with a different attitude he could be a real asset. With his current attitude he could be a real liability. I'll keep a casual interest in his on field endeavours and hope that he does realise his full potential. Provided he has stinkers V The Pies and experiences zero club success.

With his speed he'd have to become a Medhurst type forward and I don't think he has the marking ability, deffo isn't becoming a defensive mid like he said.uuuuu..... The LoneSTAR wrote:Ginnivan can play!

He plainly was squeezed out - the timeline basically is he came back from Bali, the Schultz deal was closed, his manager heard that Jack's name was being bandied about by the Club as a possible trade, his manager asked for some reassurance from Collingwood, Collingwood's response was that they were happy for him to look about because they thought he was behind a couple of others, he asked Hawthorn, Hawthorn offered him a 4-year contract in circumstances where the writing was on the wall that Collingwood didn't want him much beyond the contract that would have ended next year and then he came back and said he didn't want to leave but he was happy to be traded to Hawthorn, if that was the go - and the Club did the deal.lazzadesilva wrote:... it’s crap to say that he was pushed under the bus. To say that he "jumped off" in those circumstances is a little like saying that the people in the Twin Towers jumped off the buildings on 9/11. You know, it might be strictly correct - but it does a fair bit of disruption to the truth and completely ignores the context.

I don’t blame him for making a rational decision, 4 year contract in a team where he’ll likely play every week as opposed to a 1 year contract in a team he may struggle to get games given who is in front of him AND HH coming up behind.
However, had he stayed, he may have had the motivation to do the work necessary to get the very best out of himself and fight for a spot. Could have for example attached himself to JDG and left no stone unturned. May have been the making of him as a footballer. In that sense he’s taken the easy route. With the 4 years and a pretty fixed spot in the team will be be as driven to do the work? For his sake I hope he is, but I doubt it.
