Great player. That first goal was really classy. But i would like a Selwood rule : anyone who ducks just to get a free, should be called play on.

I thought they did introduce a rule that a head high tackle will not be paid if the ball carrier ducks or takes action which causes the tackle to be high.

^ yeah, I thought so as well. I suspect that was what was happening yesterday when Ginnivan was not given those frees.

The AFL/Umpires have set the precedent over the last 15 years that ANY high tackle irrespective if the player accentuates contact, is paid 100% of the time.

I have no issue if they feel that Ginnivan “plays” for free kicks, but don’t now make it an issue when Selwood has been getting rewarded with free kicks after accentuating high contact throughout his career.

This was posted in another thread - it has relevance here, too.

Brilliant comments from Shawry. Good to hear. Pressure right on the umpires to umpire the play, not the player. Dumbstruck that they have to be actually told this

Great to hear the club is sticking up for him and pleasing to read plenty of commentators speaking out against the disgraceful double standard here.

Given Selwood (and a few others) have been doing this for 15 years but now there's an interpretation change, leads me to believe beyond doubt now, the AFL is corrupt.

Has anyone seen any Cats games lately, is Selwood still getting the frees he always has?

I wish it were so, but I'm not quite sure "seeking clarification" equates to a "formal complaint". We certainly should be complaining, though.

Funny how it wasn't even raised as an issue in 2016, this bloke got 6 frees for ducking 6 times on debut...

David, “seeking clarification” is always a complaint but carefully worded so as not to offend the sensitive AFL. ;)

Great to see. Whateley also added his support as has King. KB teed off at the AFL massively.

The two muppets Cornes and Montagna who started it should hang their heads in shame
