I believe Jeff Browne will be elected unopposed to our Board at December's AGM and Mark Korda will depart.

That will satisfy both Browne and the current board and provide stability going forward. Make of it what you will, but that's the very strong mail that I've received.

I was hoping for member representation and a greater voice for members. I don’t want to see any more pie nights with $30 pies and a huge disconnect between the board and members. The days of footy being for the people are long gone, but we can rekindle some of it at least

The media's reaction to the impending appointment of Craig McRae as our senior coach has been extremely positive - except for one person. Who might that be? Caroline Wilson of course!

On Monday's Footy Classified she said "We've been listened to Ed for months say that Collingwood needed a high profile experienced coach. And look who they got. Very interesting!"

Is she criticizing Eddie Maguire, Craig McRae, the coaching selection panel, all of the above? It's hard to say with her. If it's Collingwood she'll be critical. And by the way, I never heard Eddie say that Collingwood needed a high profile experienced coach.

The extended, quiet coaching acquisition without any leaks is about as professional as you could hope for. No response to Lyon (who spoke out against Collingwood while sitting next to Ed btw). No engagement publicly in throughout the Clarkson fiasco.

Compare that with what might have occurred were Eddie still the President.

Agree Magpie Russ - from the outside at least it looks like the club has gone through this process methodically and with a level of discipline and rigour that (to me at least) marks a bit of a departure to the Collingwood of old (ie under Eddie's leadership). I'm not saying either way is right or wrong, but I like that were trying something different. Not to fussed about Caro and Barrett. Both toxic individuals in my view. It consistently perplexes me why the AFL emply Barrett with the bile and vitriol he offers up as journalism. That the AFL have their own media/journos is a massive conflict. If they want to create their own content it should be solely the feel-good, glass half full stories ("local star boots 100 in 5 games", "billy brownless kicks it over a wheat silo" - all that stuff). Imagine BHP running their own news service which bemoaned climate change, bagged West Australians (ok - we'd accept that bit... ).

JOURNALIST: Question for Mark if I can. Mark what is the situation with the looming board challenge and how confident are you of being able to remain in that position?

MARK KORDA: Thanks for the question. Listen we have brought forward the AGM from February to December. So obviously the members will get to vote on the board. That’s where we are at the moment. I think we should just concentrate this press conference on celebrating Craig’s appointment which is fantastic.

JOURNALIST: Yeah and certainly the media will do that. There is a healthy level of respect there but there is also obviously a pretty big situation with the board. What is your message for Collingwood members?

MARK KORDA: The members will get to have a vote on the 16th December about the Board they want for the Collingwood Football Club. It is as simple as that.

JOURNALIST: And you want to remain in that position?

MARK KORDA: Umm that… the members will vote in the Board, and the Board then votes the President. So that’s where we are and that’s the process we shall follow.
