None of our board members have been elected by the members. They have all been invited onto the board, mainly filling casual vacancies, and did not have to face an election as their positions were unopposed.

None of us nominated when elections were due either. I don't have details to hand, but a number were elected unopposed.

We need members to have the opportunity to select the entire committee - not just those up for re-election.

It would also be nice if ALL members got a say, not just a small minority.

This notion that the member should have their say displays a misunderstanding of how well the vast majority of boards operate.
Asking group of passionate football supporters is not the best way to determine the best directors for the role to be selected. Usually it is the board itself that is best placed to identify the gaps that exist and the right fit. If that process is not robust then it can still fail but it is still better than asking a group that is more prone to populism and personality.

Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

Tend to agree but where do you find dispassionate members of a footy club board? Geez even a recent appointee was taken to the cleaners for the having had a photo taken wearing a Footscray scarf or some shit like that

AGM ---> "all those in favour?" "all those opposed?" "aye's have it" "we welcome <insert member> to the board" *applause*, where's the free beer?

People are mistaking ratification of members at AGM's as something other than the members expressing their will. If the member's wanted something different then they failed miserably in making that apparent.

Do you understand the difference between an AGM and EGM.

Herald Sun reporting Galbally has served the papers, which will trigger a full board spill.

This could get ugly if not handled properly.
