I've never understood people demanding that threads be locked (particularly people who claim to believe in "free speech"). I'm not a particular fan of this one either. What of it? Nobody's forcing me to read it.

Because people are too stupid to resist posting on this thread. Besides, who said I belive in free speech? Donny locks plenty of good threads. How about someone lock this vile one? Better still, I suggest a complete ban on any threads dealing with Carlton.David wrote:I've never understood people demanding that threads be locked (particularly people who claim to believe in "free speech"). Dale Thomas going to Carlton has freed up our salary cap, and people might think differently if it means we can offer Grundy a longer contract. Win-win. But reading this you'd think Daisy was Mata Hari.

Come seasons end people won't even care about Dale any more.
What happened here was the best possible outcome for 2 out of 3 parties. We freed up our cap and brought in some good young players and Dale got a massive pay-day which his ability didn't quite justify. The only losers here were Carlton, lost their most prolific goal-kicker in the last 4 years (Betts) and still didn't manage to find a big key forward instead opting to over-pay Dale.
Anyone who doesn't find this side-splittingly funny should step back and take it all in

Still laughing at the irony!! However I find it really frightening that in 2014 some people continue to support active censorship.Member 7167 wrote:You said it but I would have to agree.Redlight wrote:Oh the irony.collie dog wrote:people are too stupid to resist posting on this thread
This so reminds me of people whinging about TV programs who still continue to watch and whinge instead of switching channels or switching off and doing something else. I have never been able to work this out in all my life......
Live and let live as long as it's legal.......

The conspiracy theorist in me is saying that this is a coverup to hide that Thomas is not as cherry ripe as the scum would have everyone think.E wrote:you spoke too soon!Dave The Man wrote:Picked for Scum's 1st Practise Games:

Hell yeah. It's actually very unlikely, but I choose to believe it anyway!Stupied wrote:The conspiracy theorist in me is saying that this is a coverup to hide that Thomas is not as cherry ripe as the scum would have everyone think.E wrote:you spoke too soon!Dave The Man wrote:Picked for Scum's 1st Practise Games:

It wasn't their official offer. This is before they filled in the forms and officially they hadn't said anything. They weren't beholden to it and it didn't have to go under their salary cap.E wrote:Dude they lodge a form with the AFL that specifies precisely what is offered. Pies can match that offer sheet. its the offer sheet that counts for purposes of salary cap. would be pretty stupid to do that and then agree secretly to pay less (unless carlton need to save money (which they dont).Geek wrote:But they didn't officially say it though. "Reliable sources within the club informed us that..."ronrat wrote:Ig Carlton told Collingwood they offer 750K that goes in the cap. If trhey pull a fast one and get caught they are guilty of draft tampering and salary cap rorting (again) and the future in terms of draft choices is farked. Given their previous recotd you could imagine they could rack up a few spoons. And Murphy and kreuzer are going to want more.
Job done.
incidentally, carlton are free to pay daisy whatever they want and can agree with daisy but the number for salary cap is fixed for the term of the contract.
or are you suggesting collingwood never officially told us what was in the offer sheet?
All they did was leak to a couple of reporters that they were going to pay a certain amount. Our response would tell them whether it was way over or not. Our response was pretty clear. Within a day the rumour was all "Well the figure we were thinking was more like 625k". I reckon it was then that Daisy has said "Whoa fellas it's not over the line yet" via his statement about the jumpers.
Once tehy had got the figure right, then they made the offer. Everything up to then was just rumour. Can't blame 'em for doing it. Pretty simple way of maybe saving a hundred grand. Unfortunately for them, Daisy wasn't having a bar of it.
Well that's the theory anyway [/b]

Don't apologise of course there is conspiracy here.Stupied wrote:The conspiracy theorist in me is saying that this is a coverup to hide that Thomas is not as cherry ripe as the scum would have everyone think.E wrote:you spoke too soon!Dave The Man wrote:Picked for Scum's 1st Practise Games:

He was never going to play IMO and his naming in the squad was purely a PR exercise.
He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!
