Howe has been cleared, but will still need to go through fitness test and complete training later this week. But the news is that he is ok.
If he and Cameron are still A-ok, and with McStay making his way back via the VFL this week, and Noble back this week, then there is at least something to be happy about. But losing Checkers until next year is a killer.
We'll be looking forward to Cox and Elliott returning soon too, with Beau and Mitchell not too far behind.

A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned!
The last injury update is crazy.
11 of the best 23 on that list. Absolutely nuts. How many clubs are even slightly competitive if that’s the case. No wonder our VFL side is no good.
Add to that we played the last 8 minutes with Cameron, Markov and Q on the bench unable to come back. No wonder we couldn’t mount any come back against the dons.
Whilst I’ve written the season off emotionally, there is a flicker that if we get the majority back in time we can mount some kind of charge.

The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.

And when you think Cameron , Markov ( very early ) Quaynor and Miochek were all injured through the game, it becomes virtually impossible to still be running above the ground with 10 mins to go.
The “ good news “ on the injury front is that Elliot, McStay and Cox are all very close to resuming. Sometimes you just got to search for the positives in a bad situation.

Howe and Cameron will be available for the Geelong match.
Elliott is an outside chance as well.

Ok so no McInnes means he must have been pulled from the VFL. Why did they start him? Was the first quarter a contest between McInnes Johnson and Eyre?
Wade continuing with the best and worst case prediction on return from injury.
Exciting to think the injury list might’ve on the verge of shrinking in 3 to 5 weeks. Is it all going to be too late. I don’t care because we still one the 2023 premiership and there’s no injury curse riddled 2024 meme or Fly press conference that can change that.
I’ve been drinking a sip of my 2023 Premiership Neds whiskey. Finished the last sip tonight’s hopefully that’s the end of it and we are all up from here! Go Pies 2024 let’s ride the no injury wave from here and see how far we can rise.

Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark of the last quarter
We had such a great run with injuries last year perhaps it's just the universe re-balancing? Or did two people leaving and too much faith in Wade lead to one of our worst seasons for keeping players on the park?

Re: 2024 Injury tracker (please quote/link source).
Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade has provided the following injury update ahead of the Magpies’ Round 19 clash against Hawthorn on Saturday.
TO BE ASSESSED THIS WEEK:
Mason Cox is making positive steps in his knee recovery and has already successfully completed one full training session early this week.
Cox will need to complete another training session later in the week to be available for selection.
Josh Eyre is half-way through the AFL’s concussion protocols, after sustaining a concussion during Collingwood’s Round 15 VFL match.
Eyre will now enter the training component of the protocols.
After last week experiencing hamstring awareness, a precautionary scan cleared Jeremy Howe of any hamstring damage, but further investigation revealed a neural issue originating from his back that kept him out of last Friday’s clash against Geelong.
The 34-year-old has undergone treatment with physios over the weekend and will be available for Saturday’s game against Hawthorn should he complete training this week.
Wil Parker has completed multiple running blocks over the past week as he continues his recovery from a meniscus tear.
Parker needs to complete a contact training session to be available to be available to play this weekend.
OTHER UPDATES:
Aiden Begg is progressing well through his rehab program after sustaining a knee injury.
The 21-year-old still has boxes to tick in his gym work before he can start any running programs.
During the third quarter of Collingwood’s Round 16 VFL game against Geelong, Charlie Dean suffered a head knock.
The defender has entered the AFL concussion protocols.
Beau McCreery is making positive steps within his rehab program as he recovers from a calf injury suffered in Round 16.
The 23-year-old is expected to be available within the next one to two weeks.
Brody Mihocek has started his rehabilitation after undergoing successful surgery from a pectoral tendon injury, undertaking light activity to strengthen his shoulder movement.
Mihocek’s recovery is expected to take 10–12-weeks, resulting in him missing the reminder of the 2024 home-and-away season.
Tom Mitchell has developed some soreness in his foot after commencing a running program over the past week.
The 31-year-old underwent scans and that did not reveal any further damage or issues.
Mitchell will be held back from running actions for a week which will alter his return timeframes, although the midfielder will be able to continue rehab work in the gym.
Jakob Ryan has started open field training drills, increasing intensity of football actions throughout the week after sustaining a calf injury during Collingwood’s Round 15 VFL game.
The defender is expected to be available within one to two weeks, should he successfully complete a full team training session.
Lachie Schultz has entered the AFL concussion protocols after sustaining a concussion during Collingwood’s Round 18 AFL match on Friday.
Schultz will work his way through the protocols.
Oscar Steene is progressing well in his toe injury recovery.
Steene has progressed from two to three running sessions per week and has reacted well to dynamic work on the sprung floor and pool.
He is expected to return within four to six weeks.

Smit didn't play the last qtr of the VFL on Saturday.
Not on the injury list so assume he was taken off as he needed a rest after a couple of weeks of being hammered by more experienced opponents.

I hope to see Cox and Kruger together on the forward line doing a twin towers act, ala the two muppets at Carlscum. They would be hard to match up on.
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm

Re: 2024 Injury tracker (please quote/link source).
Collingwood’s Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade has provided an injury update ahead of the Magpies’ Round 20 clash against Richmond on Sunday.
AVAILABLE THIS WEEK:
Defender Jakob Ryan will make his return from a calf injury suffered in the Magpies’ Round 14 VFL clash. Ryan will be available for selection after missing the last three weeks.
TO BE ASSESSED THIS WEEK:
Forward Lachie Schultz will be available for Sunday’s clash should he complete a contact training session this week. The Magpies’ equal second leading goalkicker sustained a concussion in Round 18 and has successfully moved through the AFL’s concussion protocols.
Defender Charlie Dean will also be assessed this week ahead of a hopeful return from concussion. The 23-year-old sustained a concussion in last week’s VFL clash and will be available for selection should he complete contact training this week.
OTHER UPDATES:
Forward Nathan Kreuger has entered the AFL’s concussion protocols after sustaining a head knock during the first quarter of Collingwood’s Round 19 clash against Hawthorn. Kreuger will continue to work with the Club’s medical team as he works through the protocols.
Small forward Beau McCreery is expected to return next week after progressing into team skills training last week. He will complete more team training and skills this week and over the weekend will look to complete full match loads. He is set to be available for Round 21.
Tom Mitchell is making positive progressions in his recovery from a foot injury after the midfielder underwent a download period over the last 10 days. The 31-year-old is now running with restricted body weight on the anti-gravity treadmill and should he complete a week’s worth of training, will look to progress to outdoor running in the coming weeks.
Forward Brody Mihocek has been able to complete lower body weights and is allowed to sweat, following his pectoral surgery. Mihocek will maintain this for the next two weeks, with his expected return timeframe seven to nine weeks away.
Ruckman Oscar Steene has been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season as his recovery from a toe injury continues. The 201cm ruck hasn’t undergone any setbacks in his recovery program but hasn’t been able to increase his training loads. He will now turn his focus to being able to return full fitness for the 2025 pre-season.
Ruck Aiden Begg is on the verge of his first outdoor running session, an exciting development for the 21- year-old who continues his recovery from a season ending knee injury.
