im pretty against him getting paid 800k a year at nearly 30 with his size. NO way will he be as good as he is now then, and he knows it too thats why trav is probably holding it. Paying someone that much coin at that age 5 years in advance is a pretty risky thing. performance based few

Cloke wants 800K +, Tippett wants around the same and Buddy will probably demand 1 Million + next year (Freo are going to have a massive go at him, 1.3 mill being mentioned a year).

If he stays, he will be the highest paid player at Collingwood by a fair margin, ask yourself, is that right?
If he stays because Collingwood wanted to keep him and to do so they had to come close to what other teams were offering him.

Ask yourself is that right....or should we let him go to the scum without a fight and let them reap the rewards in 2013

Now when push comes to shove,do you really think the club will let Cloke go to its greatest enemy for $300,000 in five years time? The salary cap won't be an issue in 5 years time because Swan,Didak,Johnson,Ball,Jolly,Tarrant,Maxwell etc will all be gone by then.So would the club sacrifice its only true power forward just to make a point?.I don't think so.

IIRC the last Collingwood player to go to Carlton got an irishmans foot up his arse during an intra club match and got sacked. That player may or may not have been related to one T Cloke.

Will not happen.

The pessimist in me says that sets a precedent for Cloke's moving to Carlton

The conspiracy theorist in me says Carlton gave Cameron a contract with a wink and a nod to David should Travis ever become available

The drunk in me just wants to throw up on the monitor thinking about it

Time to clear up a few misconceptions

Cloke is not going to Carlton

Even if he does go, he won't win them a flag

Neither will Mick if he decides to take the coaching job there

They will be remembered as Collingwood premierships champions who failed to achieve the same success at their new clubs.

This story has been done so many times already .. you'd think Mick of all people would know what with his love of history.
Gees nick the holiday did you good!

Great post

Oh its Carlton we're getting neurotic about again this week is it? Well that is pretty much boring. Waking me up when we start getting neurotic about someone new like North Melbourne maybe.. yeah North Melbourne....

I'm not sure if you have heard, but the Club have called off all negotiations until the end of the season. It was in all the newspapers.

oh Jesus. Kids at 22 years old get underpaid and players at 30 gewt overpaid. Who the **** cares. As someone else noted, about 6-8 of our premiership core will be gone by then meaning that we will have stopped winning premierships by then. So we pay a four time premiership player 300,000 more than he is worth. Again who the **** cares.

Lets get on with it.

PS: can you swear on this site.

It is more about the retention of developing players such as Witts. If Wiits and rookies like him realise their potential we will need money on our cap to pay them. If too much goes to one player we will not have the availbale funds in the cap to retain them and then there will be no premeirship windows.

Clubs that have put all their eggs in the one basket seem to have very limited success.

Travis either takes what the club is offering or goes. In the end it is HIS choice. That is now an issue for October. For now it is ALL about winning this years premiership.

YES smarty, I have heard, but HE could pick up the phone and tell Pert he is now ready to sign the original agreement, right now pre Finals, couldnt he. ? Im sure the Club would be more than willing to accomodate him signing now, at their terms. ! :? :!:
