We are only missing four top 23 players now albeit several more are playing injured or underdone. Too little too late on the injury front!

No Cameron, Elliott, DeGoey, Naicos at training this morning.
Bobby doing running in the rehab group with McCreery.
Allan and Johnson training after missing VFL game on the weekend.
NB. I was only there for about half an hour towards the end of the session.

Injury Update ahead of the Magpies’ Round 21 clash against Carlton
From the club website.
https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/1 ... e-assessed
Bugger about Smit, developed concussion symptoms post game and failed a HIA so won't play this week.
Interesting update on Begg, Athletic Development Training? Is that a flag that we're going to try to turn him into a KPP?
AVAILABLE THIS WEEK
Beau McCreery will available for selection for this Saturday’s AFL game against Carlton after returning to full training from a calf injury. The forward completed game-like training loads across the weekend.
Due to illness, Joe Richards was unavailable for Collingwood’s Round 20 game against Richmond.
The 24-year-old is recovering and expected to return to main training later this week and should be available for selection.
TO BE ASSESSED
After being ruled out of Sunday’s Round 20 clash against Richmond due to ongoing groin soreness, Jordan De Goey will be assessed ahead of Round 21. The midfielder had rest, recovery and treatment over the weekend and will need to tick a number boxes during training this week to be available for selection.
Collingwood’s medical staff will assess De Goey’s ability to get up to top speed and complete football drills as part of this assessment.
OTHER UPDATES:
Following the completion of Collingwood’s Round 18 VFL game against Richmond, Iliro Smit experienced symptoms linked to concussion and subsequently failed a HIA test.
The ruck has entered the AFL concussion protocols and will work through each stage with the support of Collingwood’s medical team.
Nathan Kreuger continues to work through the AFL’s concussion protocols after sustaining a head knock in Round 19. It’s expected the forward will be available next week.
Tom Mitchell has maintained a status quo in his return from a foot injury.
The 31-year-old has recommenced light running drills inside but has not begun running outdoors. The timeline for his return is yet to be determined.
Brody Mihocek has started rehab and movement to work towards having full range in his pectoral muscle. The forward has been able to complete cardio, bike and lower body weight sessions. The forward will continue to wear a sling for at least another fortnight and is six to eight weeks away from returning to full fitness.
Oscar Steene continues to progress in his rehab program after a toe injury, completing two running sessions a week. The ruck will continue to work in the gym before progressing his training to on-field as he eyes a return to football in 2025.
Aiden Begg has completed his first outdoor running session, an exciting development for the Ruck. The 21-year-old is also undergoing athletic development training and will look to gradually increase his loads and intensity as he looks ahead to 2025.

That sucks for Smit. Had a great, confidence building game last weekend.

Re: 2024 Injury tracker (please quote/link source).
Last year we seemingly had a dream run but had key injuries to Cameron and Cox in the first half of the season, Sidey's MCL in his 300th, Daicos leg fracture and Moore's hamstring in the last 6weeks, Adams hamstring on the finals eve and McStay's MCL in the prelim. That plus many players were out of form late July early August when we lost that patch of games. Last year our VFL seemingly had less injuries also.
This year we started with no form, then had a sustained period of injuries, particularly forwards and mids in concert with injuries and poor form in the VFL also. We had a good patch of wins in between rounds 4 and 12 pretty much breaking even at the turn. But then we've had a lot of injuries in one part of the ground impacting our scoring.
Fly told us they tried to play differently to compensate. We definitely played differently when Checkers, JDG, Elliot, McCreery, Schultz, Howe and Cox were out but I don't know how we tried to play because it just looked like a disconnected mess.
What is interesting to me now is that out of that group above, only Checkers and JDG are be missing and McStay has come in. We will have most of that group together and hopefully for a sustained time now, that gives us a chance. With all those in, look we're not going to replace JDG for real but we have enough cattle to give it a red hot go.

Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark of the last quarter
