it was good & showed a better understanding of not just selecting Murray whom they've been following but the reasons they wanted not just him but keep points for possible father son &/or for next year.

A much wider understanding than shown here in Nicks (including moi)

Clearly our recruiters reckon this kid will be a great addition to our list. If they are right, then I've got no problem with the deal, but if he turns out to be no more than a fringe player, then I'll be mighty pissed.

As it stands we should give the kid the benefit of the doubt and show a bit of faith in our recruiters to have done their homework on this one. At least it's not the result of Gubby Allan going off on his own bat.

I didn't see any reference to Rhyce Shaw selling Murray to Collingwood.

In years gone past Rod "Tilt" Carter was our paid Sydney spotter. I'm not sure if this is currently the case.

The Age review of the selction of Sam Murray

COLLINGWOOD

In: Sam Murray

Out: -

2017 draft picks: 6, 38, 56, 61, 80, 98

Wanted to hold on to pick six so therefore hands were tied in acting on interest in Devon Smith or Jack Watts and ended up landing a pacy defender for next to nothing
.

Wondering if Sam is an Indigenous footballer? Lots of Murrays from Victoria and Southern NSW are. If so Kayle Kirby has family to this mob.

Let's hope this kid doesn't read nicks!

He'll delist himself!!

For what it's worth, there was nothing available in this trade period that we needed. Not even lever who ISNT a key back. He's a Medium sized back man who can only play loose.

Next year, there will be. Lynch will 100% be a Pie next year. I wouldn't be surprised if he has agreed already.

We get the best available kid with 6, we get Lynch and we get another year into Daicos, Brown, Kirby and all the other kids.

I'm looking forward to next year and beyond.

In today's footy, speed > height. Who would have thought Butler (pick 67), and Castagna (rookie pick) would be premiership players?

From the hightlights, the kid looks good. He's not a midget at 187cm, pacy, not a bad mark, not a bad kick, and takes the game on.
Sure, it looks like we paid a bit high for him, but it's obvious we wanted him and Sydney sensed it. Maybe our recruiters wouldn't be great poker players, but I wouldn't hang them for it.

Get Coffield @pick 6 and suddenly we have some serious speed to worry a few sides.
