What a yawn fest.
Some minor interest in how many disposals Parish will end up with.
38, so far.

'"Yawn fest" it was, Donny. After Essendon raced to a 4-goal lead, Geelong kicked 7 goals in a row and 15 goals to 4. Geelong is a reasonable side but the Bumblers need to TAGHL at themselves. Poor effort by a team wanting to play finals. The forwards were the difference. Geelong had many fewer inside 50s but kicked a goal every third time they got there (15 from 45), whereas Essendon was just a little better than a goal for every 8 inside 50s (8 from 62). Marks inside 50 were 13 to 5 in Geelong's favour.
Essendon just shaded Geelong in the hitouts and the centre clearances - but they were killed at stoppages around the ground (38 to 22) and that enabled Geelong to have the lion's share of time in possession of the footy. The thing that stood out, though, about the rucking is that none of it generated anything positive. Draper was the "dominant" ruckman with 34 hitots (12 to advantage - which is the average achieved only by the top ruckmen in the comp) but only had 1 score involvement. None of the 4 ruckman had more than two score involvements. The good ruckmen average 5 or 6 per game and have 3 or 4 score launches per game.
Essendon easily won the "contested mark" battle but that was on the back of James Stewart marking solidly in the backline.

GWS won 64 to 55. They thumped Melbourne at the clearances - shading hitouts 32 to 29 but winning clearances 39 to 24 (centre 11 to 6, around the ground 28 to 18).

QT: Freo 4-26 Carlton,
Hawthorn 10-20 Port.
Shocking start by Freo. Don't they want to make finals?

And Carlton have already kicked another at the start of Q2.
How did we lose to Freo at home? Shameful...

Looks like Freo played their Grand Final last week and we made them look good.
