Mate there’s been stories for a while his attitude towards receiving any form of advice or criticism isn’t taken well
He’s always been a different cat we all knew that
He lost me when he immediately after accepting $7m from us saying he won’t be defined by football or premierships
I would have thought a answer along the lines I’ll do anything it takes to bring success to the club

Karma is a real bitch hey, Deeeees ?? Grundy was a great player for us several seasons ago, 2018 he was superb, great form, and 2019. But then, got injury prone, his form fell right away, his last two yrs with us were a total waste. My take is Gawn has spat the dummy, it has not worked out as a tag team between them, as many here predicted. Suffer in ya jocks , Deeeeees, and thanks for those gun recruits we got cos of him departing.

Money talks so if they didn't appreciate him why would he have been offered that monster deal? He did cop stick from supporters but most of the criticism levelled at him came at the end of his time there coinciding with his big contract renewal and drop in form from the heights of 2018/19.
I thought it a pretty cheap shot from Goodwin at the time tbh. One that has come back to bite him hard at the moment...

Yeah, I DO hope that Simple Simon has finished wiping all the egg off his moosh now , karma can be a real bitch, hey Goodwin ?? :o :P

That's a big claim.

How confident are you that information is accurate?

Wu & Ractliffe on Gawndy:

"Of the ruck pair, Gawn is the better forward, so for the team’s sake has played reduced time on the ball. But he’s also the better ruckman, in fact the finest of his generation, so his reduced impact in that position has been felt. Admittedly, his form is down this year, due in no small part to the knee injury he suffered in round two.

Neither Gawn nor Grundy are serious aerial threats inside forward 50 metres and both lack the forward craft to be dangerous leading up at the ball, though the skipper is a strong contested mark around the ground. Both are No.1 rucks not suited to playing as a second-string tall forward."

Gawn last night had a game high and his highest game ranking points in 4 years
He had 214 points Petracca was second with 118
When the game was on the line Gawn was in the middle feeding his midfield the ball at will
Was a sight we didn’t want to see going forward
And they had no Oliver in
Amazing what a component ruckman does

That performance by Gawn has spelled the end of the Grundy AFL time with Melbourne barring injuries

Yeah, clearly Grundy was not only playing putrid footy but stuffing up Gawn as well.

But there are strong psychological factors that'll make Melbourne keep trying to make Gawndy work.

Dermie reckons dreamons have shown their hand and won't play two ruckmen for the rest of the season. Based upon last night Grundy ain't getting a game unless injury gives him the opportunity. Looking at what has happened with Grundy at melbum and Treloar's game losing ball butchering in crucial big moments, I'd say it was a master-stroke moving them on, although it didn't seem like it at the time.

Anyone see Max's interview last night where he said 'he was dedicated to making it work with Grundy'.....would suggest it has not been working so far...

Gawn was a monster last night so I doubt Melbum will mess with him as the main ruck. Grundy either reinvents as a forward or finds a new home in 2024.

What was he going to say
Our recruiters stuffed up getting this bloke he’s hopeless and I’m glad he’s in the VFL ?
He has to toe the company line but I’m willing to bet internally the mids are doing backflips knowing they have a ruckman who can hit the ball to them again

Interesting listening to some callers in the Grundy situation
One in particular
He said Grundy wasn’t half the player many thought he was. He gained over half his stats trying to clean up his poor tap work. He said if you purely look at stats he gained around the ground his numbers looked very average
Sounded like someone has done a load of homework maybe for another club

Interesting listening to the commentary around Grundy now
Lyons last night on On the couch said Grundy wouldn’t be at Melbourne next year and sounded like someone who had a insight
Buckley was adamant Grundy won’t want to play forward he sees himself as a #1 ruck option and he doesn’t have any forward craft nor would he be eager to learn it
Many other former players and coaches also expressed similar opinions

He’s most likely 2 landing spots would be the Swans or Port
I heard a whisper over a week ago Melbourne had already been in contact with Swans about if there was any interest
Port need a ruck but will they see his limitations as a below average ruck who struggles to hit the ball to his mids advantage as a deterrent ?
I think whoever offers to eat up the most of his salary will get his services
Right now he’s owed just under $3.2m over the next 4 years unless Melbourne paid a chunk of that down this season on top the $750k we tipped in to get rid of him
But let’s say she’s owed $3.2 that’s $800k a season
I would guess both swans and port won’t want to pay anything over $500k a season meaning Melbourne will be needing to throw in around $300k a season to clear him off there books

Melbourne have shown there hand by playing Van Rooyen up forward with Brown
And Gawns performance the other night shows why he will be there #1 ruck for remainder of the season and going forward
He was scarily good the other night especially in the last term when he picked up the whole side and carried them forward
He wore down big Oscar over the first 3 terms then dominated him

Grundy’s only chance of a return to the AFL this season is injuries to Gawn

Grundy, Demons could be headed for a $3m divorce. These six rivals could make a move:

Carlton
Geelong Cats
Giants
Port Adelaide
Sydney Swans
WC Eagles
