how does he find time to dedicate to youngy when all his energies still hoping corrie will get a game soon?

the other day, i ran into 3rd's uncle and the uncle mentioned 3rd was mad as a hatter and short of a quid. i said that was what 3rd said about his uncle. we both laughed at the pointlessness of the conversation. cracking stuff.

I suppose the highs aren't quite there for Blair. But if we're being fair about it, he's actually just about the most consistent small forward in the comp. It's a position where dipping below 5 disposals (as Fas did against Richmond) is not uncommon. Blair however rarely drops below 15 or so.

It seems a lot of the criticism is about the position not the player. Not enough goals? Compares well with others around the league. Not enough disposals? Right up there with the best small forwards. Maybe he just needs to be flashier? The one criticism that does hold is, like many small forwards, he doesn't often have an impact in big games. Leon, who was definitely a quality small forward, had the same rap if I remember.

Yes, great point. It's the hardest position to play on the field, small forward, especially in this age of flooding. The delivery tends to be to the tall forwards, so you're living off crumbs and any kick you get is probably under severe pressure. Blair plays it pretty well, all things considered, and it's hard to think of too many other small forwards who consistently do it better. That's probably why good judges keep picking him.

i guess it depends on which forward role he plays. in this day and age, he can possibly be assigned to play a deep forward role, link role, hunter role or a defensive forward that rolls up to support the midfield.

Personally I think Blair must stay:
1/ He's contracted
2/ He's depth
3/ He's a premiership Pie who should be given the benefit of the doubt for at least the term of his contract
4/ His stats aren't really all that bad (sorry climate change deniers but stats do mean something)
Unless he is part of a trade to get Treloar, Aish or Dangerfield to the pies I am happy for him to stay.

Blair tries his heart out but he doesn't have many elements to his game. He's a good honest player and unfortunately against the better side with bigger bodies, he get pushed off the footy WAY too easily. Congratulations to him though because for his height and where he came from, he's done a great job. You just can't see him in our best 22 for much longer.

That is really funny.
Great come back line.
I concede I can't beat that.
I promise I won't post in this thread again.

That is certainly not an opinion shared by the last two Collingwood coaches, the Collingwood game selection committee over recent years and I suspect the majority of Nicksters and supporters. No one thinks he is elite.

That fact the he has played so many games despite his deficiency in height and size is testimony to his courage and tenacity.
