You are wise. The problem now is that Eddie dug himself into a big hole by saying "we wont do 5 years!". Rule number 1 of negotiating. Never say never. Rule number 2. Never let pride or principle rule your position. Its the sure way to miss out on what you want.

E.g., a guy went to buy a house in 2002. He offered $400k and was told he had it. then he got told he needed to go to $410. he told them to take a hike on principle (the guy renegged on the deal). He missed the house. By the time he found another, the market for that type of house had moved to about $430k. He was pissed off and so kep looking for one worth $400k. It took him about 12 months to realize $400 wasnt the market anymore. He ended up paying $500k for a place that was not quite as good as the one he originally wanted for $400/$410. That $400k house is now worth $1.2 million. Do you think the guy really would have cared that he paid 400 or 410 if his house is not worth 1.2 million?
To extend the analogy a bit further, Cloke's starting to look as overvalued as the Melbourne housing market. Don't buy at the top of the market...?

So do I.

I hope all the people venting at him on these boards choose to support him tonight rather than jeer him.

He's wearing the Black and White stripes into battle for the Collingwood Football club and deserves the support that goes with that.

I guess he can't be blamed for having a dickhead of an old man.

What's the old saying? You can choose your friends but you can't choose your family.

Cloke playing alright at the moment, except for his Travis Cloke Special, from directly in front.

May be fair to say Dawes is the reason Cloke was playing shit!

I heard that someone organised a Hooker to put Trav in a good mood.

What a welcome relief ;)

Something got solve3d at training this week. I havent seen him talking like this for weeks. And i havent seen his team mates support him for weeks either.

I wonder if there was a chat this week with Clokey telling the boys that he is still with them?

Well done Travis.

We actually had another forward option other than Travis and he thrived.

Best one man first half effort for our side this year

I have been critical of Travis over the last few weeks, but he did pretty ok tonight. Watching ol Mick before the game, interviewed by BT, the ol mans body language tells me he is definitely off to the Scum. On that basis, just to stuff up his plans and the Scum, I now think we should re open talks with Travis, and give him that five year sticking point. I dont want Clokey over there at Scumland helping our former coach to plot a Caaarlton flag. Deep voice f-ckhead Kerna thinks he has the old man AND Cloke as a package, I reckon to bugger up his insidious plans, we should now re sign Cloke, he showed enough tonight to show he still wants to be with us. He hasnt done that for a long, long time. !

Finally a great game from Trav, is this a sign of a turnaround or just because he played the Dons who have been his bunnies his whole career. Next week we will find out.

We are simply a much better team when he is playing well
