Behind Martin & Dwyer for BOG honors for mine. Both Adams and Kennedy manic inside players but both need to learn some discretion, giving away too many frees at the moment.

If Young and Fas are out Adams is not the type we're looking for, and I doubt we'd play Ball, Thomas and Adams together as they all play the same role.

Don't really think Ball's that similar to Thomas and Adams. At this point, they're both more like a lesser Sidebottom. Clean hands, good decision makers with the ball, slow by foot, physically / defensively limited, struggle to kick long distances but are accurate over shorter ones. Not really hard ball winners (like Ball) or finishers, but very good link men. Tarkyn Lockyer was another guy like that. You love one guy like that in your team, having two is ok, three is a redundancy.

Martin was BOG with 6 goals and 27 disposals for mine but of the senior listed players then yeah I'd have Adams just ahead of Dwyer.
He's the type of player who's a very good in when you have a few injuries as you know he'll give it a red hot crack.
Him and Williams will give our side an even more harder edge when they break back into the 22.

Adams was great, so was Martin.
Bugger about Marley and horrible seeing lynch go down like that
Great to do them well in both games though!

Don't see the Sidebottom comparison. Sidey's our number 1 linkup player who just runs like a madman all over the ground, giving and receiving.
Ball, Adams, Thomas are all in and under types. Neither have a great deal of pace, a particularly elite engine or necessarily elite skills. What they do is win their own ball and dish it out. It's notable that we have rarely started with even two of them on the field this year (usually one is the sub and another in the VFL). That would suggest it's going to be near impossible for all three to find a spot in the side and even difficult for two.

I actually think it says we have 3 elite midfielders in Pendlebury, Swan and Beams hogging all the spots.

^^Yeah that too
. Which is why they're all fighting for the one spot. Two at most.
Knowing our luck I'm sure injuries will solve all our selection problems. Working well with the defense so far.

Haven't seen enough of Adams to say for certain, but the engine is definitely the biggest thing Thomas needs to work on. He plays much better as a sub than he does in a full game.
I made the Sidebottom comparison, because he doesn't have elite pace and skills either, not good enough to be a pure outside mid / finisher ala Didak. What he (and Thomas) does have is clean hands and fast decision making skills. Sidebeottom also doesn't have the physical strength to win a heap of his own ball and be an effective tackler, and you might disagree, but I don't think Thomas and Adams do either.
I just think Ball's a different type of player to these guys and he has skills and the defensive mentality that the others don't.
It's not Luke Ball who's keeping us from playing Thomas and Adams together, it's Steele Sidebottom.
I like both of them individually, but I wouldn't mind trading one of Adams or Thomas for a pure outside / good kicking mid. We've got too many of one kind of player and not enough of another.

Adams was very good on VFL today. I was there, it was windy as all hell! Put him amongst AFL players and hell excell. One of our best.

I was shocked when they said Martin had just kicked his sixth, that's a top effort but he just never really stood out to me like Adams did. His was all grunt and 2nd, 3rd efforts but each to their own. I was actually a bit disappointed with Dwyer, a couple of times I thought he could've attacked the contest a bit harder. I expected a bit more given what he's shown at AFL level.

Martin is the forgotten man. He accumulates kicks and goals the way Steve Waugh accumulated runs. Seems to be out there for a while, not doing anything much, then everyone claps and you look up at the scoreboard and he's got another 50.
Martin is like that: no-one sees him, no-one notices he's there, only the scoreboard is any the wiser. If we can't find room for him, he'll be a walk-up starter at any of 17 other clubs.

^^Not sure about that. Unless they had a specific need for his type. As a forward he's a medium in a smalls body, without great pace or a leap and lacks for agility. That's essentially a non-starter.
At AFL level he really needs to be an inside mid and has not yet shown that he's a good enough ball winner in close. He's like Blair who should be an inside mid, but is not good enough at AFL level, but gets away with playing as a pressurising forward, not sure if Martin is suited to that role.
