Players out of contract: (in my order of my preference)
1. Dean Solomon (Ess)
2. David Wirrpunda (WCE)
3. Nick Stevens (Port)
4. Nathan Brown (WBD)
5. Luke Power (Bris)
6. Jade Rawlings (Haw)
7. Adam Kingsley (Port)

Just a few names, but all seeking new homes (bar Wirrpunda).
I think Solomon should be at the top of our list.
He may not be the best player in this list, but he is best option to suit what we need.
Tarks will more than cover for missing out on Stevens, whose preference is to go to Carlton.
He can go there, at least he will win something next year...spoon!

Wirrpunda has been given the ultimatum by WCE. If he doesn't sign within 24 hours he's finished as an Eagle.
He would be commanding good $$$ but I feel he is worth every penny.

The Magpies said that only one of these could fit into the salary cap so we need to pursue wisely.
I would love to see Solomon Rocca Didak as the half forward line!
Go PIES

Can someone please tell me all the players who re-signed contracts this year at our club and are therefore not available for trade? I think Brodie Holland is yet to re-sign!

So much for Stevens definitely wanting to come to the Pies. Thats almost as a big slap in the face as the GF loss. Carlton a team that has finished 16th and 15th respectively and is showing little signs of improvement ith a few aging stars and questionably talented youngsters is this guys preference??!?! Either that or he's could be throwing a curve ball at Carlton as a means of forcing the Pies to throw more money at him.

Also Wirrapunda is not at all likely to end up anywhere but West Coast. They have a very good reputation for retaining players. Gehrig was an aberration but at the time he wasn't a consistently good player.

My understanding is that NS would prefer to come to us, but understands that a deal between us and Port would be hard to arrive at, as we don't have what they want - A LOW DRAFT PICK!

He knows a deal with Carlscum would be easy to arrive at.

Mind you, if I was him, I'd tell Port it's Collingwood or I go in the draft.

MAKE them do a deal with us.

Exactly Mardy. Force their hand. Tell them they have to except whatever the Pies offer them else they get nothing. Same way Prik Davis was dealt to Sydney. Bout time we were on the right end of a lop-sided trade deal.

MELBOURNE is preparing to snatch Nick Stevens from under the noses of Collingwood and Carlton, by offering pick five in the AFL draft to Port Adelaide.

You are spot Mardy - Nick has made it very clear to PA that it's the pies or the draft. Choko has has made it clear to Nick that you won't get your way and end up in the black and white. That's why he hasn't come out publicly and stated his club of preference - Port already know!!!!

If worse comes to worse he will put a price tag on his head he knows Footscray can't afford and go to Carlton in the draft and Port get stuff all - not his preference but at least he will be in Vic. Lucky for him the cards fell the right way and the bottom teams with the first picks are Vic based - so Port have no bargaining power as either way he will end up at home.

Always handy to have a dad who played for the Pies and remains stauch so that he can just wander down to Vic Park as a past player and just happen to run into Mick or Balmey who of course love to have a chat with past players
