WHY is it that the Brions don't see the logic of this trade?
Is it me or maybe deep down they really DON'T want Beams (having had him force himself on them) but are merely going through the motions to ultimately say that they tried?
Otherwise it just doesn't make any sense comparing the two deals...
Nonsense. Any club would step over their own mother to get Beams on their list. They just want him for unders plain and simple.
Well, call their bluff then I say....
Deal as WE want it or no deal. Stuff them is the most popular comment going around at the moment.
It's bloody obvious (and frankly insulting to Beams) that they don't rate Beams as much as WE rate him.
Again I'd have to respectably disagree with you there mate. I think every footy club would be well aware of just how elite Beams is, however many times the trolls on big footy would try and tell us otherwise. Even the Brions own players have come out and said it in the past 18 months or so. If he wanted out but not specifically to the Bears, we would have 17 clubs climbing over each other to get his signature and would have gotten a significantly better deal than what they're offering. Bar a few of us, I think the majority (myself included) are with you in the opinion that we tell them to take a hike if they aren't prepared to give us what we want, even if it means we unlikely lose him for nothing. Sure it will be pretty crap if it happens, but I would have a hell of a lot more respect for the club if it took this stance.
On a personal note, funny how much hype about leadership was put on this bloke who has shown everything but the sort lately. Potential future captain... righto.

1.Beams for pick 5 and Aish/Redden
2.Beams for Aish/Redden, pick 21, 25
3.Beams for pick 5, 21, 25.
You have until 5pm tomorrow to agree to one of those deals.
Really can't see the Pies moving away from option 1. I was told today through pretty reliable sources that we are almost certain the trade won't happen and Dayne is wearing 17 next season.

I don't like deal 3 there, can't see us agreeing to that. And I think Brisbane are still a fair way off deal 1. Deal 2 would be something we should strongly consider though. It's not quite full value for Beams, but assuming that Aish/Redden actually wants to play for Collingwood, then we could make it work by on trading 25 for Greenwood.
Getting picks 5, 21 and 25 isn't ideal far from it but it's better than just pick 5 and 25 currently on offer.
If Brisbane aren't prepared to throw in 21 as well then they can well and truly get stuffed.
For me if we can get Greenwood for pick *25, give up on Varcoe and get pick 23 for Lumumba we'll end up at the end of this trade period with picks
5, 9(Moore), 21, 23, *25(Greenwood), 30.
A few if's there but it would be a pass mark with two top 5 picks (bid for Moore at 5), 3 picks between 20-30 and Greenwood.
*We might be forced to part with one of the lower second round picks for Greenwood.
So, those who were happy with pick 5 for Beams and jumping at the chance of pick 5 + 25. What do you think of Ryan Griffen? At 28, is he worth more or less than Beams?
Because there is talk of of two deals:
pick 4 + 7
pick 4 + 20 something and two players
Now tell me that accepting pick 5 or even 5 + 25 for Beams is not a surrender for the Pies. And remember this is the Giants starting point, they're not doing a Brisbane and starting with a completely unacceptable offer (pick 5).
