Young fool, hes going to the handbags at the wrong time. They got the flag sure, with the oldest team of all time, a one off fluke. Next season, no Sellwood, will struggle to make top six, father, time must catch up. End of next season, Hawkins, Guthrie, Dangermouse, Dunstan, Issac smith etc, will all retire, and the arse will fall out of them , you dont replace power forwards like Hawk for years. Their window will be shut for yrs, ours is just opening now, he wont play in a Premiership with that ageing mob. But, if he really wants out, lets bleed the handbaggers, why not straight swap for that Routelega, -not sure of his name, - or Narkle, fast, indigenous player. Bleed these pricks dry.

If Bowes makes his way to Geelong, then it’s a “ simple “ trade to find common ground.
The Cats can cough up that pick 7 that comes with Bowes and we give them something back plus Henry and whatever we do give them back, can be used as part of the Bruhn trade.
For us, Pick 7 becomes pick 8 on the night and there’s a couple very promising talls worth entertaining around that pick. Get it done Cats but it needs them to land pick 7 first.

I believe the only players Geelong would be willing to trade out are:

*Brandan Parfitt.

*Esava Ratugolea.

*Sam Simpson.

Simpson is a big no from me, but they might offer one of the others with pick 18. Parfitt is an inside mid and Ratugolea is a key forward/ruck. Both are 24, but would either be in our best 22? Ratugolea is a good contested mark, but he does not win enough hitouts, does not kick enough goals, and does not do enough around the ground. So "Sav" is a no for me. Parfitt, I think, would fit in ok. He can get his hands dirty but wouldnt be of high priority if we're looking at Tom Mitchell.

If they got pick 7 from the Suns in the Bowes trade, I would accept that pick in a straight swap. But I dont think the Cats will give up a pick that high, even though they'd be simply passing it over from the Suns.

Would you accept a future 1st and Parfitt? That could be as good as it gets.

Old Mate Henry can go to the pre season draft.
He will end up at Arden Street.
He will have plenty of time to watch his brother play every September as finals and Arden Street are mutually exclusive..

Went 17, makes me think 12 is about right, 8 if in contract, but isn't.

Ratugolea is useless. Jesse White reincarnate, an elite athlete but mediocre footballer.

Parfitt would be great, but that's not gonna happen alongside pick 17. He's in the starting 22 as of next year, sans Selwood.

I think we get 17 plus a future third (if we're lucky). Pick 7 gets used on Bruhn. No way we're getting that ahead of them.

Just Play hardball. If the trade doesn’t happen on our terms he stays.

Yeah?
No you’re talkin’

Start the bartering now.

(I wouldn’t have him any less than round 1 top 10)

They want him, they can pay for him.

Not sure about that. He won’t go at Pick 2, so no Arden st. Would another club risk a first rd pick on someone who doesn’t want to be there or would leave after 2 years?
I say he gets to cats we get future first rd. Maybe a little more.

In reality they have pick 18 or 19 or whatever it will be with compo picks, and MAYBE pick 7 if they get Jack Bowes. So we ask for pick 7 and throw in a second rounder as well (which will be in the late 30's after compo picks etc) if they have pick 7, or we ask for pick 18 and a second rounder. Henry wasn't in our finals best 22 so it's hard to ask for a top ten pick in isolation, but he's probably worth more than pick 18.

I reckon we'll have a pretty nice draft hand if we get something first round form MElbourne for Grundy, plus our pick ?15 plus something 18 or better 7 for Henry. In this draft we could get a tall forward and tall defender with that hand.

A future first rounder is an option. 2023 is a bumper draft and the Suns and Giants in particular are very keen on buying into the 2023 draft. They have a good crop of NGA talent coming through in a years time and we could do a bit with future first rounder, including trade back into this years draft.
I don’t see us taking any player from the Cats. We don’t need to grab every B grader who can’t get a game there and then effectively price us out of a free agency target in 12 months time. You build your core list through the draft, so I’m all for taking the best pick we can from the Cats, future or now and then bundling it up and working our way into the top 10 at this years draft.

I reckon the Giants will take a future 1st for Bruhn. They are going to be more interested in getting into next years draft that this years. So that leaves Geelongs first round pick free this year, if they are willing to use it.

No he doesn’t, he’s not contracted. Late first rounder at best. Maybe future.
