I think the idea has merit....Pies4shaw wrote:Since there won't be enough people to replace all the guys Collingwood is going to sack on Sunday, perhaps we could get them to sit at a round table, with their position titles written on cards placed in front of them - they could then pass their card to the person seated to their left as a means of determining everyone's new job. Just think: Swanny becomes President, Aish becomes coach, Travis gets to run the netball team and - by that most tragic of Collingwood fates - Gubby gets appointed to do the kick ins. Pendlebury becomes boot studder, Derek takes Sidebottom's place (giving a whole new meaning to "gut running"), Buckley gets to man the bar in the Social Club and Eddie is the new CHF.
A change is, as they say, as good as a holiday.

only had a good couple of games. been in and out of the team.jackcass wrote:Acres starting to have an impact.John Wren wrote:some of those names are only getting games now. some have been inconsistent as you might expect.
patty cripps and zach merrett appear to be the best performers of that list.
Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle.

I still wake up in a cold sweat from time to time, imagining myself at the Western Oval again, watching as Gubby kicks the ball directly to the opposition FF with Collingwood a point in front and the final siren about to go....Collingwood Crackerjack wrote:Could he do any worse than our current set-up?Pies4shaw wrote:Except for Gubby doing the kick-ins?

A point in front close to the siren? I'd almost settle for that....Pies4shaw wrote:I still wake up in a cold sweat from time to time, imagining myself at the Western Oval again, watching as Gubby kicks the ball directly to the opposition FF with Collingwood a point in front and the final siren about to go....Collingwood Crackerjack wrote:Could he do any worse than our current set-up?Pies4shaw wrote:Except for Gubby doing the kick-ins?

Gubby was ahead of his time. Just didn't execute properly. The switch across goals happens 20 times a game these days. Back then it was tantamount to murder.Pies4shaw wrote:I still wake up in a cold sweat from time to time, imagining myself at the Western Oval again, watching as Gubby kicks the ball directly to the opposition FF with Collingwood a point in front and the final siren about to go....Collingwood Crackerjack wrote:Could he do any worse than our current set-up?Pies4shaw wrote:Except for Gubby doing the kick-ins?
That footage of Jimmy Edmund giving it to him was priceless.

watch hockey and soccer and you will see similarities and things that have been borrowed from those games.Damien wrote:Gubby was ahead of his time. Just didn't execute properly.
