Question; if another club offers a better deal to Collingwood and can offer Oli more playing time, can we make this deal. Or is it Geelong or bust?

I think Henry has to agree to the deal, or he is essentially uncontracted and can choose to go into the draft (if he wants) or work at woolies if he wants to, but he can't just choose to go to the Cats (they would have to draft him). But he can refuse to get traded to another club.

I may be wrong (hope I am), but I’m dumbfounded as to why we should be expecting a first round pick for a player whose limitations mean he can’t get a game at Collingwood.

Pick 17 and has shown the capability to be a match winner. Hasnt really diminished in value but I won’t be surprised if we get up to pick 25 or so. Don’t think Geelong have anything there though?

He will end up at Arden Street.
He will have plenty of time to watch his brother play every September as finals and Arden Street are mutually exclusive..
Not sure about that. He won’t go at Pick 2, so no Arden st. Would another club risk a first rd pick on someone who doesn’t want to be there or would leave after 2 years?
I say he gets to cats we get future first rd. Maybe a little more.
I think you’ve confused the National Draft and the Preseason Draft.

Most likely it'll be this years first for Henry and a future first for Bruhn.

Perhaps the swapping of picks in our favour could be extracted also.

If Geelong obtain pick 7 I think their main intention would be to take it to the draft and would probably ask for Henry and our 1st round pick to even consider a trade.

So what would your prefer?

Pick 17 and 19 (potentially 18 and 20 after matched bids) or pick 8 (after matched bid)?

Yep, we aint Lort Smith Animal Shelter, and into re-homing lost kitties up the Princes Highway from the kindness of our bleeding hearts.

I'd rather burn the pick we took him with, than help Geebung improve their list.

You have about a 1/17 chance of getting home in the draft, and that's with putting a massive price-tag on your head to avoid the poachers, and surely geebung can't afford that sort of coin on short notice to get him on 2023 books?
A couple of Welfare clubs WILL pounce on you before hand, as they are ca$hed up to their tits.

Stay for one more year, and see how 2023 pans out - if still not happy, then get traded out respectfully.

Agree absolutely.
Why give him away for kitty litter??

And... this is the time for Wright and Co. to advise all clubs we will no longer be bent over at trade time; WE will do all the rogering from now on!

Perhaps a good time for all clubs to strongly consider avoiding drafting players from the Geelong nursery areas; it is a one club town there, and their hearts will always be at Kardinia Park. Their list is loaded with them.

I think you are correct. Makes me feel a little better. Maybe collingwood will have some leverage.

If Geelong want Henry, then bend them over a barrel for more than a first round pick. They’re looking likely to trade in back to back flags with the other players they’re apparently getting.

It was evident at every game I was at that all game other forwards and midfielders had to instruct him to pick up a player, lead over there, do t just stand there follow your opponent running down the ground. It wasn’t like once here or there but almost every time the ball came into our forward line.
I kept waiting to see an improvement but it did t come. He had no desire to chase down or apply defensive pressure at all. Initially I thought maybe he just has really poor fitness, but you could see his face and demeanour when constantly needing to be told where to go and what to do.
Henry could become a star but to carry a poor attitude and someone that doesn’t seem to care or learn our game plan is a risk I think is worth letting go for another first round pick regardless of his elite talent.
Fair observations but not sure we saw his true potential. His heart was never in it because he wanted to be elsewhere. Watch his attitude miraculously transform if he makes it to Geelong. That's gonna be tough to watch. Must hold our ground here and demand reasonable compensation or better. If not, he can **** right off into the draft!

I like the Mark Williams philosophy. Geelong will be in flag contention for many years and we should not be strengthening them during our window.

They need to pay up or into the PSD he goes (ala Nick Stevens). We are better off getting nothing for him rather than it potentially costing us a flag.

I don't rate him anywhere near as highly as many others on here. Obviously has some neat party tricks but also has limitations. There's a reason he's only been on the fringe. He doesn't work hard enough on field; isn't particularly physical; and is poor defensively. Geelong might get more out of him, but I'm not sure he's got the ticker or intensity to become more than a bit player. Won't lose too much sleep over him moving on and not expecting any more than a late first round pick. Wright and Stephen Wells have both got a reputation as being fair operators so I'd be pretty confident this gets done late in trade week. Thanks for your service, move along.
