Not surprising given rumours in our local area of people sneaking down to their holiday houses.
Given you get daily deliveries from the Coles, Woolies, Aldi distribution centres, plus Auspost, couriers etc, it could easily come from a transport worker.

There's a bit of an explanation for that on NSW Health's twitter:
140,000 of these tests form part of a now cleared backlog of negative results which were unable to be processed on the day they were notified.

OK, That pulls it back a bit, they're still on a testing and vaccination blitz though, over 100k tests per day is the norm.

Do tell.

I watched some of A Current Affair while organising dinner, not my normal watch but Gladys was being interviewed, so I left it there and had a look.

Perspective is an interesting thing. I thought she spoke really well, no throwing blame, no emotive stuff, straight direct info.

Then I check on Twitter and she's being excoriated.

:?

In Victoria, 50 new local cases and 1 new case acquired overseas (currently in HQ). The Government says that "Of the 50 local cases recorded, 40 are linked to current outbreaks and 10 are under investigation. 11 cases have been in quarantine throughout their infectious period."

Testing numbers are still just under the 50,000 mark per day, so that's not a bad result. As for what it means in the larger scheme of things, I guess we'll have to wait for the presser.

^ Yes - I'd extend the lockdown (although, politically, it might be desirable to wait to see how things are going next Monday). Not because it's fun or desirable but because, if numbers are still going up and we still have significant numbers of people not in isolation or mystery cases (or both) there's no sensible alternative, at the moment.

The message has to be to get vast numbers of additional people vaccinated asap - the present lack of Pfizer supply as of right for children and younger adults is a disaster waiting to happen. Paradoxically, it looks like Victoria's better control of its outbreak is suppressing vaccine demand, despite the constant message that "the best vaccine is the one you can get today". It looks like people are flocking to get vaccinated in NSW because the virus is everywhere, the State is - in substance - threatening to open up, come what may and, of course, the Commonwealth has provided them with lots of additional early Pfizer. So, young people can get Pfizer in NSW - but not here.

Something like 10,000 Victorians a day are either cancelling their vaccine appointment or not showing up, seemingly gambling that they'll be able to get Pfizer next month.

Some are holding out to get the latest version because they view it as being better. I spoke to someone the other day who wants to wait for Moderna as it was 'better' than Pfizer.

Others are opting to now go the GP or pharmacy to get the jab but forget to cancel their original appointment.

Each time there is a negative story about AZ or another announcement about more supply of Pfizer, vaccinations drop of.
