To paraphrase something I read elsewhere, Dan has gone from Please McStay in Brisbane, to 11 uninspiring games for Collingwood, missing the GF and now has suddenly with our injuries become the reincarnation of Gordon Coventry with DNA from Ron Todd, Peter McKenna and Phil Carmen thrown in.
I wish him all the best but please folks, temper your expectations.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

Great to see McStay back playing football.

The clubs approach to McStays perfect and professional rehab is a tricky one. You can’t ask a player to be 100% focussed and committed to an alcohol free, gruelling and boring rehabilitation and then say to him, thanks but even though you’re medically cleared, we’re not going to play you in 2024. Players want to play, they don’t want to be put in cotton wool after doing everything perfectly as the club has asked you to do.
If he’s passed as medically fit to play and he has confidence in his own body, then he needs to be rewarded for all that hard work. It’s going to be a nervous few weeks everytime he goes for the ball but I can guarantee he would rather be playing than churning out more kilometres on an exercise bike.

Well, thats the decision isnt it.
Do we give him a game or 2 late? Do we bring him in now? Do we hold off until 2025?
Are we resigned to missing out on the 8, or are we still going to try and win as much as we can with 6 games to go? Is it over now? Is it over after 1 more loss? What if we win the next 2 and results go our way?
Do we play him against Hawthorn, or do we stick with Reef/Kreueger?
