If pick 25 turns into Greenwood then I think we've got what we asked for originally being pick 5 and a suitable player it's only in a more roundabout way.
5, 21, 25 (Greenwood) is comparable to 3, 20, Kennedy for Judd.
As good as Beams is he's still not quite at the level of Judd.
Still if Brisbane aren't willing to give up pick 21 as well then no deal and we'll have to look at getting Greenwood via the Lumumba trade.
The talk surrounding Griffin and a possible trade of picks 4 and 7 for him would have Collingwood rethinking the above proposition as fair value for Beams though.
We should be shopping Beams to them as a better alternative to Griffen (which he is). Beams can go to GWS to be with his best mate Shaw and halve the flying time to see his "sick" dad. A good compromise and a better outcome for us.

I'm comfortable with whatever eventuates from here. All 3 scenarios are fine imo.
1. Beams stays in 2015. Who knows what will happen in 12 months time, but even then he is not a 'free agent', so we'll still be in a strong bargaining position, should he remain determined to leave. By then, he may have changed his mind anyway.
2. Pick 5 and 25, effectively gives us a potential young gun with pick 5 and a ready-made strong bodied mid-fielder in Greenwood with pick 25.
3. Pick 5 plus Aish. This is my preferred outcome, but probably the most unlikely.
Either way, we're looking good for 2015 imo.

Nah needs to be 5, 21 and 25 rudie if not going to be 5 and Aish.
For me though with McCartney set to resign the chances of Beams going to GWS ahead of Griffen have increased and we should start negotiations with them.
Stuff Brisbane.

Green wood is not part of the Brisbane deal. How we use our picks is our business. If Lions want Beams then the price is a player plus pick 5.
I want a Ferrari but can only afford a Hyundai. Do you think if I offer the salesman 50k he might hand over a Ferrari 458?
What if I make fun of Ferrari on Twitter? That should do it...

End all dealings with the Lions now based on that tweets. Demeaning, disrespectful and seriously unprofessional by Leppa.
If it was my call, that would have been the last straw.

I'd be still dealing with them, because it shows they are a club in complete disarray. That tweet sounded to me like a desperate coach out of the loop in the trading.

This is simple:
the five o'clock 'Collingwood' deadline is fast approaching and if Brisbane cant meet our request for pick 5 and a player then its no deal.
We then start shopping Beams around for a better deal and GWS will be ripe for the picking.
There is still a week of trading to go until the 'official' deadline and the Lions will have the weekend to mull over their mistake and start to panic, knowing that other clubs will be lining up for Beams.
They can also use that time to tap one of our chosen ones on the shoulder and say 'How about it son?'
They can then come crawling to us on Monday and request the deal goes ahead.
We could say F... you! You had your chance or we could just smirk and agree.

I base this on nothing but supposition.
If Beams doesn't go to Brisvegas, we will keep him.
Unless a barnburner of a trade comes up.

Agreed. More of our players should sign up with Connors, such is his inability to get anything done besides get Daisy out of pie land.

This actually works out good for us.
If the deal gets done for a pick and player - he looks like a dick with no idea
If the deal falls over totally and we keep Dayne - He looks like a dick for stuffing the deal up, dosen't care about Danyne's reasons for coming home, Dayne realizes they dont care, we walk away and point at the dick for being unreasonable and having a piss poor attitude and Pies look ok.
We trade Beams to another club for exactly what we want - Shiels, Treloar, gold coast gun, Pies look ok
One thing though, from now on the Lions need to be brought back as enemy number 2 ( still hate the blues more ) and every chance we get on social media or in games we need to hound them.

Just on The Age's live draft feed that Lions Director of Coaching Peter Schwab said that picks 5 and 25 are still on the table but that's best they can do and they'll go to the draft with them.
