Rip the band aid off and get what you can from Geelong. If he stays, we go through this bullshit scenario again next time he's out of contract. He'll always have the Geelong leverage card handy in contract negotiations.

He may become a very good footballer. He may not. His trade value may never be as high as it is now

truth

fact is he lost his spot because he doesnt have much of a defensive side yet. he may never get one! he'd have to be a bloody excellent forward for that not to matter

IF big girly Hawkins thinks somehow Henry can replace him, when he inevitablly retires at the end of next season, hes as thick as two bloody housebricks, Henry aint in his class, by a long, long stretch. :o

I hope we stand firm and refuse to release him to the Cats. If he decides to try his luck in the draft, then so be it.

I think it's hilarious that we're going to get more for Henry than for Grundy. What a messed up world.

I wonder if the slows on Henry internally are much greater than we (on the outside) all think... Perhaps similar to Grundy?

Be fascinating to look back in 5 years and see what the two have been able to produce elsewhere.

One is a 29 year old on a million a year who is likely past his best with still 5 years to go on his contract.

The other is a kid who has shown some ability and plenty of scope for growth with 10-13 years left ahead of him.

Makes sense to me we get more for Henry than Grundy.

I want him gone and I want to make sure Cats pay for him. The precedent is too great if we dont. He will never be a collingwood player - seems mentally weak to me.

Id be prepared to let him go to the draft -

Yeah, feel the same way. On one hand Tom Hawkins talks him up while the club he plays for talks the player down to get him on the cheap. Well, stuff Geelong. Do we really want the pick they’re offering that badly? Either Henry plays for us next year or he can walk to either North Melbourne or Adelaide in the preseason draft.

Geelong just want it all don't they?

Win the flag, gain pick 7 in a salary dump, secure Bruhn and Henry and expect us to accept inadequate compensation so they can "hit the draft".

Here's a thought.

If you want to hit the draft then don't go targeting two players at the end of their initial 2 year contract term and do the work yourself.

And if you do target those players?

Then expect to pay what they're worth and for two 2020 1st round selections that's a pick 18 for one and a future 1st for the other at a minimum.

Oh and here's another thought.

Get *ed.

Young Ollie could well end up at North Melbourne which will be a lose/lose for him if he is not careful. Draftees, need to commit to a Club for initially 3 years, or risk being delisted (except in exceptional circumstances).

This is a boy, being a boy. If his family are all telling he should come home then he will always be a boy.
