^^Great statement by the club, let's hope the other clubs start knocking and that Beams starts listening.
The Lions have made no effort to secure him. It seems we even budged on requiring a player, asking for 5, 21 and 25. But no, the Lions want Christensen so they wouldn't deal. Well, stuff em then, no more talks.

Yep, had to do a little fist pump after reading that statement, very professional.
Apparently the Lions put picks 5 and 21 on the table, "but not for very long", so yeah, they're just extracting urine with this whole process.
If we can get rid of Beams this year, I reckon we should chase Aish anyway. He's out of contract next year and must know by now that the Collingwood faithful want him to come play with his South Australian brothers. Offer him a 5 year deal and Brisbane our first round pick, in 2015.

"now that negotiations with brisbane have ceased ..." will they now be persona non grata?

^^In regards to this deal, they better be. Schwab seems to think they have till Thursday @ 2pm, let's disabuse him of that notion.
Our best chance to get a deal now is to be firm on enforcing this deadline. If Beams realises his Brisbane dreams are over, other clubs become an option.
If Brisbane later comes with a deal of 5, ~21 and 25 which we put to them today, I say we don't even respond, they had their chance and that's not a good deal anyway.

Great call there Caro. Another fine and in no way misinformed update from yourself to add to your always factual calls. Muppet. Will the Age just fire her already?

If he retires now, can he enter the 2015 draft as an uncontracted player or does he have to wait until 2016 when his contract has expired?
Even if he takes that route, he would need to be very careful about draft tampering. He wouldn't want the Suns or another desperate club to have a pick before Brisvegas.
Not sure, but I think he'd have to stay out of the game for 2 years after his contract expires. Unless we signed off on him coming back earlier.
The AFLPA would get involved too, it'd be really messy. But perhaps necessary if clubs are ever going to get control of this free agency attitude that's developed amongst the players since GC and GWS came into the comp.

DH said that negotiations ceased at 5pm
But if Dayne selects another club we will work with him
Otherwise Dayne sits down to plan 2015
Brisbane as stated had their chance

^^Just need to make sure we stick to it unless the Lions come to us with the deal of the century. Dayne won't consider other clubs if we're still taking Brissy's calls.

Despite the thread title it wasn't her call - it was another journalists scoop.
These are her media awards: (from Wiki):
I
n 1989 Wilson became the first woman to win the AFL's gold media award.[3]
She was the winner of the Sunday Age journalist of the year award in 1993.[2]
In 1995 Wilson was the winner of a national RAWARD (now known as the Australian Commercial Radio Awards - ACRA) as best radio current affairs commentator. [2]
Wilson was voted the AFL Players' Association's football writer of the year in 1999.[3]
Wilson is a multiple winner of AFL Media Association awards, including most outstanding football writer and most outstanding feature writer (2000, 2003, 2005).[3]
In 2010, Wilson was presented with an Australian Sports Commission lifetime achievement award for her contribution to sports journalism.[2]
In 2013, Wilson won her first Walkley Awards, sharing the 2013 All Media Coverage of a Major News Event or Issue award and winning outright, the 2013 All Media Commentary, Analysis, Opinion and Critique award. Both awards related to The Age newspaper coverage of the 2013 Essendon Football Club supplements controversy.[4][5]
In March 2014, Wilson was named the Graham Perkin Journalist of the Year at the Melbourne Press Club's annual Quill awards. This prestigious award was presented to Wilson for her coverage of the Essendon Football Club supplements controversy.[6]
I understand she didn't win the Nicks best journalist in Footy awards though
