Its certainly possible, there has been mumblings mid-season, he did put contract talks on hold yeah ?

But lets get real here - he is more valuable than Beams.
We would need to sweeten the deal considerably.

Beams p30 and Sinclair wouldn't cut it if i was GWS.
Throwing in another experienced player might.
Beams & Cameron are virtually straight swaps.

Cameron has the potential to be a superstar, Beams already is one.

The difference is the positions they play, that alone brings them back on an even par.

Cameron would allow Reid to play down back, we really miss his delivery out of the backline.

az, you are being the muppet here. read wpt's post.
Just having a go mate. Honestly, yes I realise she has a achieved a lot in her career and she deserves respect for that. However I tend to dislike her after her numerous attempts to slander Swan which bordered on obsession. Also, stating that the Beams stalemate was over but not reporting the details because it was someone else's story is just as shifty as reporting it herself. Why say anything at all if it was another's story? I can think of a reason. After the heat she received for reporting that Hird had been sacked of which didn't happen, maybe it was easier to say there was another person behind the story so that she didn't look like an idiot twice in as many weeks?

Yeah but we wanted 5, 21 and 25 I'm sure.

Hoping it looks that way from Brisbane, yep. 8)

Cameron is worth more than Beams, no doubt. But pick 30 should just about cover it. Probably a little bit under from their perspective, but Cameron apparently wants out, either to Melbourne or Adelaide, and GWS have 3 other first round pick KPFs on their list(Boyd, Patton, McCarthy). On top of that, their salary cap will big bulging because they'll want Beams AND Griffen for a chance at finals and relevance next season. They can't afford Sinclair or any others, nor can we afford to lose any more senior players.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Cameron for Beams and pick 30 in the end. Beams agreeing to play in orange would surprise me more.

I don't think the AFL Integrity Department will be investigating GWS's player payments any time soon.

Dayne has two options for mine.

Either he agrees to be shopped around to the Gold Coast or GWS or he signs a 1 year contract extension at Collingwood and is welcomed back with no grudges held.

For me getting Dayne to sign on for 1 extra year gives us security of having the upper hand at the end of next season should he still wish to leave or guarantees he will be at the club until F/A kicks in and we'll get some compensation for him.

People might say Dayne won't agree to that or shouldn't have to I say we've gone out of our way to get a fair deal for a required player to the club of his own choice and it's not our fault Brisbane weren't prepared to come to the party.

He owes us something extra now IMO other than just playing out his final year of a contract and looking to leave when our position isn't as strong.

We were prepared to try and fulfill his wishes this year, he now needs to do the same for us next season.

I think you're just thinking a little romantically here Swoop, he owes us nothing. It's a dog eat dog world, and yes we can make his life hell by not 'allowing' him free passage, but the bottom line is we do not own him. He can 'walk out' on us any time he chooses.

Now I'm not saying we haven't done the right thing, I totally agree with our 'fair trade' stance, but in that, we have to be realistic too. Imho we should try as hard as we can to get a deal done with the clubs you have mentioned, or alternatively with Brisbane if they come crawling back with a fair trade (Aish and pick 5 imho).

Beautifully crafted well written statement on our website about how we tried to get him home to his old man but Brisbane obviously don't value him as much as we do.

As I said several times this week, there is nothing stopping them pitching something better to us. They still have a week. We've won round one and showed we aren't budging. All the aces are in our hand.

And who knows what other offers Connors will get in the next 7 days. The beauty of that is that now every other club knows what it will take to get a deal done. No team would waste their breath offering anything less than what Brisbane already have. It's a good position to be in.

As it stands we have won. the lions wanted Beams, but they have failed to secure him. In my book that's Pies 1 Lions 0.

yeah, initially i thought it odd she raised the matter and the deferred to another party. i like caro. i am in the minority. i guess i tire of the same old rubbish getting trotted out by posters every time her name is mentioned. there is never anything new slated at her.

anyway, it's come to pass all those rumours were just that. didn't matter where they sprouted from they never eventuated.

Exactly. Or he plays for the Pies in 2015 and we start the dance again this time next year.
