Lions are taking a hell of a chance, look at it this way, if Beams stays with us next year he'll earn around 350k, if he goes to the Dees he'll earn around 800k, so staying with us could cost him around 450k for next year alone.
Odds are very slim he won't be willing to explore options other than Brisbane when you consider the financial ramifications.

I'm happy for him to go. Let's just get a fair deal. So far the club couldn't have handled the situation any better.

Could this still happen?
That doesn't give me any more optimism on an Aish trade. And for the reporter to suggest he will sit out 2015 rather than play is just dumb.
Ask yourself this question: would you give up $350k +
Of course not.
He'll play and it will either be for us or for someone else on the back of a fair trade deal they we are happy with.

I don't want him to go, best case scenario IMO is he stays and agrees to a new contract next year, players like him don't grow on trees.

Won't happen Defender, best thing for us now is that he leaves the Club, and we get the best deal we can for him, sad but true.

I know it's highly unlikely, but that's our best case scenario, short of getting a treloar.

Time to get this thread up and running again.
GWS and GC are the clubs we'll be dealing with most likely.
So what can they offer for Beams (within reason) that you'd accept?
Pick 4 and 7 (if on traded from Carlton) from GWS.
Might be possible if Higgens is out of the picture. Might not as well. LOL.
Pick 4 and 19 from GWS.
Pick 4 & suitable player from GWS.
Suitable player & 19 from GWS.
Pick 8, 15, 29 from GC for Beams + 30.
Pick 8, Lonergan (or suitable other), 29 from GC for Beams +30
Suitable player, 15, 29 from GC for Beams +30.

I have my eye on the Dees picks 2 and 3 TBH, they have the cap space and if it comes down to staying with us or signing with the Dees for massive coin I think he'll do it.
This scenario has the added bonus of giving us plenty of cap space for a serious crack at Dangerfield next year.

I'd be surprised if he agreed to go to Melbourne or any side other than the two I've already mentioned.
They wouldn't give up 2 and 3 anyway unless another player from us with some worth to them was involved.
Pretty certain Roos ruled out trading picks 2 and 3 for Dangerfield
Perhaps 2 and 12 should they receive that pick from Richmond.
Hell let's aim for pick 1 and 22 should Beams be open to all offers.

Staying with us will cost him around 450k next year, that's going to be a contributing factor IMO.

Reports are that he is actually on rather more coin that what your basing your figures on though.
Might be wrong but some were suggesting he was actually getting more like $650,000 from us this season and not the $450,000 people thought it to be.
Who knows.

Agree, and that's no problem, IMO.
Beams for Treloar makes sense.
Beams and Keeffe for Cameron would be sweet, too.

Defender wrote:Word on the street is the Lions "might" get the Giants end of first round compo in exchange for Patfull, obviously that pick would become ours along with pick 4 and their original second rounder.
So picks 4-20-23 for Beams.
Another second rounder Harry.
In turn giving us picks 4-20-21-23-27
We trade pick 20 for Greenwood.
We trade picks 21 and 23 for a midish first rounder.
This sounds like what Collingwood is hoping to do (your numbers have moved down but your point is well made).
On another board (not sure why we have two separate boards for Beams discussions but there you go), I also suggested that pick 5, 21 and 25 would be about the right compo for beams. Sadly, Lions chose to go with Christenson at 21 so that is off the table.
I wonder who might be the kind of team to trade a pick 10-13 for two picks in the early 20s. Maybe a lowly team as they might want to go for quantity.
