* 4 year delay in getting a return and possibly longer given they'll be 18 in 2024
* their abilities are unknown vs Henry's are known

Options:

1. Try retain Henry stating Geelong don't value him and we do
2. Ask for a a player + the future 2023 first rounder. I'd like Parfitt but we may not have the salary space or C Stephens as he fills an inside mid gap and would be cheap
3. Push Henry through to the Pre-Season Draft and hope the Eagles NOT Roos pick him to make him really homesick.

Fear:

Wright simply accepts a future first.
Actually it will be the 2023 draft, thus a three year delay.

But given next years draft is meant to be better than this year, it is better for us. Also if the Cats slip down that ladder, which is likely, that pick gets even better.

It'd much rather their future first than this years first.

They want all these young players, but are not willing to trade fairly. They are getting an absolute bargain from the Suns and they also want to get that Falcons kid with the pick 7.

We all want the best deals for our club. But this is also about helping each other out and coming to a fair conclusion. I thought Dodoro was the only one who made ridiculous offers.
yep all three clubs they want to trade with are reportedly pissed off! and rightly so!

I am starting to hate Geebung now, more than Caaarlton, and oh boy, I never though id see that day coming. So greedy, they want it all, to grab talented young kids for nothing , to enhance their ageing team, the arse of which will fall out of,w hen all their oldies retire the end of next season, you dont replace Premiership stars like Hawkins, Sellwood, Guthrie, Dunstan, Issac smith, Dangermouse, etc in a hurry, takes yrs. and yrs. So they are trying to rip us off, with this kid Henry, get him for **** all.

Stuff the Cat bastards, pick 7 or go hopping. :x :x :x :x :x :x

Future first is fine by me. I would have taken pick 18.

Take Geelong's future first- on trade it to GWS for Lachie Whitfield.

He will give our midfield a huge class boost in preparation for the saddest footy day we will experience for a long while when Pendles hangs them up.

Be proactive, Pies- turn Henry into Whitfield...

So the turd Mackie has succumbed to media outrage (thanks Lloydy and Rendell) for effectively calling Mackie a tight arse, by trading Bruhn for their pick 18 selection this year.

So what is the likely scenario now. Don't think the Cats shall offer up pick 7 or split it for two lower first round picks. Mackie shall come back to Wright and offer a future first rounder (2023) and I implore Wright to knock that back if it's a standalone offer.

Henry for Stephens in a straight swap OR Henry for future first. I'd prefer the first option, but there is no indication we're into Stephens (which under current management probably means we're up to our eyeballs into him!).

The speculation is that a future pick for next season may not be wise because the pool of players coming through are nowhere as good as it will be in 2024. So if a future pick is involved, it needs to be a wait until then.

Take their first rounder next year!

They won’t win it again, so it’s already better than 18 and with a bit of luck, their old farts finally shit the bed and they finish in the bottom 10, giving us a pick in the top 10!

You think all those oldies will play with the same determination etc as this year now that they have their flag?

A few niggly injuries etc, they’ve got their flag.

I get where you’re coming from in all this but there is another POTENTIAL layer in taking a future first rounder. Maybe Wright has a taker for that future first and that pick swap is then reintroduced back into the 2022 draft. There’s a good chance we wouldn’t even see that potential outcome unfold until draft night itself. It is a fairly young list and given the club seems happy to trade out its futures during this draft period, I’m not sure they are planning for a big night at the 2023 draft.
We should also remember, if we did accept Geelongs future first, the worst return we would get is 18 ( progressive ) The Cats wouldn’t be the first club to get comfortable after an easy G F win and fall away the following year.
For mine, I don’t have a problem with trading Henry for their future first BUT I would much prefer them to turn it back into something in 2022.
The real audacity of the Cats lies in what they want for Ratagalea but conversely see Henry’s value as much less. Well if you’re prepared to move out Ratagalea and value him more than Henry, why would you seriously want Henry then ? It just doesn’t add up.

Maybe they're willing to let Jaxson Barham come back into our VFL team?

I haven't seen it discussed, and maybe I missed it, but does Henry want to go to Geelong because he was not getting games at the Pies, or was he not getting games because he had already said he wanted to go?
