Looks like Geelong may offer pick 25 (2022) and a future second for Henry.

If I were the Pies, I would be letting Henry know that Geelong don't rate you enough for a first rounder- stay with the Magpies.

We should offer to drive Henry down the freeway to Geelong for 2 days after each match he plays so he could have his 'family time'...

Geelong are trying to bend us over- if we send this kid to the PSD, he will probably end up in Western Australia...

Their future second is gone to Brissy. So it's pick 25 and there's not much else in the cupboard...

Pretty annoyed by the whole thing. On the otherhand, we got Lippa for pick 40 something, so we can't win every time.

With all due respect Mr.Lad, the only people sending this kid into the draft will be himself and his manager.

It's not like he's playing for the bottom four club who first drafted him; the wheel has turned, he helped rotate it several times - he is required and should stay.
He may have gotten called up for a shock GF appearance, had that PF gone for a minute longer.... sadly, we'll never know....

I don't think he will get any greasys from anybody at club, even if he only signs on for another 12 months or so; i'm sure everybody now understands his situation.

Geelong future 1st, pick 25 to Collingwood.

Geelong got Brunner who was pick 12 in 2020 for pick 18, they're trying to convince us to take 25 for Henry who was pick 17 IIRC.

Similar mark down, I think the difference is we don't want to lose Henry. Geelong has bugger all left to offer unless they get more picks somewhere or throw in a player.

I'm preparing to accept 25 :(

Yes

I am actually starting to hate and loathe Geebung more than Carlton, and oh boy, that I thought I would never say. But here it is, they are beyond greedy, sickening, Mackie is shitting the nest trying to get young kids on the cheap, to make try an make ground up for when their bevy of ageing Premiership stars all retire real soon, end of next season, Sellwood already gone now. So hes playing us for suckers, stuff him, play hard ball Wrighty, make em sweat bulletts. :x

Big difference in living in western Sydney & wanting to go home & living in Melb.
Just coz someone does something stupid doesn’t mean you should follow. Stuff GWS & what they do.

Let’s put another spin on this. If pick 25 ( edited ) and Henry’s freed up contract was to be the difference between Mitchell ( or ??? ) coming to Collingwood or not, would we all still be as keen to send Henry to the PSD for nothing ?
Sending a message sounds good but it aint always great for business.

If he doesn’t accept his one year deal his contract is freed up anyway isn’t it?

Do Cats have a future third rounder they could add to #27? Be a shame to see him go but we restore this years draft order, and get Frampton in while also keeping next years draft whole.

Or if we get mid-late 20s for both Grundy and Henry would we try getting higher this year OR parlay them into more picks next year?

I know there’s a minimum no of picks to make but if we have McStay, Hill, Frampton and maybe another mid coming in via trade, as well as 2-3 draftees that will be a pretty big annual change in list. Lock it in and try stack your hand for next year?

I agree we wouldn’t have his contract on our books if we let him go but we also wouldn’t have # 25.
There’s a lot of people on here who are keen on Mitchell and to get Mitchell across, you need two things - a ) a pick to satisfy the Hawks and b ) the space in the cap to fulfil his contract. Having only one component of that trade won’t get it done. Everyone is saying a mid / late second rounder is about right for Mitchell, so nothing we have right now is anywhere near that area.
There’s a reason why you can count on one hand the number of decent players who are actually escorted to the PSD after the club has knocked back multiple below standard offers. Clubs just don’t see that type of bravado as a way to improving the list.

I am totally with you on this “walk him to the draft” nonsense. It rarely happens and when it does leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.

So are you suggesting Henry out, #25 in and then #25 out Mitchell in? I could probably stomach that. If you couldn’t get Mitchell would we rather keep Henry? Would he stay (we have put a one year deal to him haven’t we)? Interesting that Papley was soo desperate to get to Carlton but yet ended up staying and will now likely be a Swan for life. It can happen.

Maybe you get more for Henry next year if he can find a spot and continue to grow.
