I think you might just have to try and comfort yourself with the knowledge that if we want Varcoe as well as Greenwood then we'll need pick 25 as part of the deal for Beams to satisfy North.
If we bypassed on Varcoe then I'm sure we could have found a way to get pick 23 for Lumumba from Melbourne and still got Greenwood without relying on doing the trade for Beams.
Still some hope that the revised deal will be rejected.

Problem is that I was already comforting myself with the knowledge that even though Varcoe is crap, we'd be getting him cheaply.
I don't want him at such a high price, even though I think he does add something to the list.

Lots of speculation on here. Not many facts though. My understanding is that the club's deadline for a trade with Brisbane has now passed and this now means that we are focussing our attention to other trades.
I hope they are sticking to that. As far as this rumour about 'Pepermint' Crisp goes: he's not one of the players we nominated as an acceptable part of the deal. It's quality v quantity. Don't get the two confused Collingwood.

Seems Melbourne want to keep 23 for their Trengove deal.

Hang on a minute. Why all of a sudden are we interested in a deal with briscum after they failed to meet our deadline last week. I thought that that was it and we'd look at other potential offers now. But now I see crisp is on the table. Doesn't this just make a mockery of what we initially said in the first place. Make no mistake, I want these pricks shafted like they've never been shafted before. I'd rather we not deal with them and move on to explore other offers ie gws.

The picks 5, 25 and Crisp to Collingwood for Beams deal is being treated as just about done (see the official Collingwood site:
http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/20 ... -september ). It is surprising, since I'd never heard of Crisp until he was offered to Collingwood.

I didn't listen to the video but the text is just media speculation. Don't think it reflects an official club position. I'd be happier with a H to North for Greenwood trade and treat everything else seperately. Apparently (according to media speculation again) H was meeting with North so may still happen.

Who is Crisp? Would rather have another pick in the draft than a guy who couldn't break into the Lions side over the last 3 years.
So it's Beams & Lumumba out for Varcoe, Greenwood, Crisp & Pick 5.
Geez, the player we draft at 5 would want to be the next Buddy or Pendles

I assumed that the Lions were simply putting Crisp up for trade to another team in order to get another draft pick to offer us.

Lets not get too caught up in this speculation. Pies have said nothing, so am assuming our position as expressed on Friday remains.
Suspect that it is the Lions pushing this as a great deal by adding an unwanted player into the mix.
Yet we have ceased and desisted in our discussions with them.
Lets see what Gold Coast and GWS throw into the mix.

Crisp has apparently put his hand up to come home to Victoria. If he was any good wouldn't Geelong rather get him than pick 21 for Christiansen?

Well, put simply, I think anything said by anyone about a trade deal can be taken with a grain of salt until the paperwork is lodged.

how can a fringe player be considered a sweetener?
oh lordy, jay clark thinks crisp will be in the best 22.
