Ha, didn't realise there was another game on.

The Brisbane game was painful to watch. Lions had plenty of endeavour but severely lack polish.

Bummers are very mediocre, any other team would've beaten them last night. It almost looked as though they were content to let Brisbane run over the top of them. Something nqr there, young Merret kicks an amazing checkside to snatch the lead and not one team mate runs up to congratulate him? Their body language and discipline tell me all is not well amongst the playing group. The coach looks and sounds like he doesn't give a ****, I wonder if that's rubbing off on the players? Something's definitely not right. They were also very average against the doggies last week. They've probably played 60 mins of decent footy in the last month. They will not make the 8 imo.

One more thing... took a special interest in Jackson Paine's game, he battled hard but looked a little out of his depth. I wish him well but I think we made the right move there.

Roughead (Haw), Jones (WB), Duffield (Freo), Chapman (Ess) all likely to be cited on head high bumps - all look likely to get weeks.
I hope our guys take heed and temper this stuff. Id hate it if one of our guys gets weeks for this sort of thing.

Two players sent off in our U17 match today, umps cracking down on head high and reckless contact, same as AFL.

I've also told my boys to be careful when going for the ball, elbows down and try to avoid the head.

Posted elsewhere, but also relevant to this discussion......

Put the onus back on the player to protect themselves when competing for the ball. It is a dying art in an attempt to attract the superior athlete to the game from places that haven't grown up learning the games' intricate movements and timing.

Kennedy kicks a monster from outside the 50 and on the boundary.
