He was pick 40 in the draft after being passed over twice previously. This years Brownlow Medallist was a Rookie lister !! Look beyond the draft number.
I do not want to lose Beams. I want pick 5 and one of Redden or Aish if he is to go. Crisp will be a very good footballer. We do not have a 190cm, 88kg onballer on our list (who is grunt first).
Agree, hence my current comments, not being a clairvoyant. As we know it, Beams is an established star on the cusp of his best yet to come. The bloke in the crisper at the back of the fridge is a totally unknown quantity. We can only adequately discuss what we know NOW, not random speculation about future events.
We could get pick 109 in this year's draft and he could be an absolute bloody Hine special gun. We just don't know that at the moment in order to fully discuss it.............

It is a worry that we are losing Beams. In regards to Crisp there have been a litany of players that have struggled in their early years to get games and then blossomed in their early 20's. Remember Anthony Miles at Richmond in the 2nd half of this season. Remember Barlow for the Dockers could not get a game anywhere until his early 20's. It is in no doubt a massive downgrade today but by the end of 2015 we may be
One can only hope this to be the case. Optimism is a fair nicer place to be than the alternative.

Yeah I didn't think they'd accept 30 and 48. Hopefully this means that the 5 way trade is off.

Guys can we please direct our anger at those who deserve it, Beams and Brisbane.

Crisp is not at fault for the deal we might end up having to take for Beams.

I've decided I'm prepared to take an open mind on him.

He won Murray Bushrangers best and fairest so he can't be bereft of talent.

He might have been taken in the rookie draft by so what so was our last premiership captain.

His best performances for the lions were this season under a new coach and presumably new development strategies.

Players wanted out of Brisbane in droves at the end of 2013 after suffering through the "Voss years".

Perhaps just perhaps at our club with a history of excellent player development and rookie success stories he'll become a far better player than what he is perceived to be now.

We don't have to like the deal but it shouldn't mean we don't give Crisp a fair chance either to succeed at his new club and start rubbishing him from day one.

Varcoe on the other hand.

LOL.

I'm actually impressed with the highlights videos I've seen of Crisp. He's got a great mix of speed and strength and he's not afraid to use either. Plus pretty good penetration on his kicking too. I also read that he was BOG in one of the NEAFL grand finals or something.

I think people are disappointed that the Beams trade isn't delivering us a better known player. If Crisp or his people read these threads, they certainly shouldn't take it personally. It's just that Dayne has a massive off field profile where as Jack doesn't, yet.

Screw this. I don't even know why we're pursuing these three-way, five-way trades. It's not helping us get anything better. In fact, it's masking the fact that we're basically giving H away for free. Why should we help facilitate the Clark to Geelong deal when we get nothing extra from it?

Offer H for Greenwood directly or offer him + 48 to Melbourne for pick 23. If none of these come to eventuate. North can just take our pick 30 for Greenwood or get nothing. Basically what Brisbane did to Geelong with Christensen.

Tell Brisbane to add another second round pick to our 5+25 or the trade won't get done. Crisp is basically worthless in terms of trade value so doesn't matter whether he's included or not. He basically has the same value as a Kyle Martin or Sam Dwyer.

If we still want Varcoe, which I hope we don't, offer pick 30 for him. Nothing more.

Not certain that i have said the deal is good, in fact i have said that i only want pick5 and Redden / Aish as a get out.
The fact that a few of us think Crisp will be a good footballer should not be read as acceptance of the current mooted trade ( 5 , 25 and Crisp).

This would be my stance exactly and leave Varcoe behind. He is a classic list clogger. If we want experience we would be better getting a "Daniel Cross" type who can be exemplary as a teacher to the young guys for work ethic.
