Collingwood accepts Eddie McGuire's apology for Caroline Wilson remarks, supports him as president
21st June 2016
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-06-21/e ... on/7530826
Collingwood Football Club says it has accepted Eddie McGuire's apology for his on-air comments on Caroline Wilson, and supports him in his position as club president.
McGuire apologised on Monday for joking about drowning Fairfax AFL journalist Wilson while talking about The Big Freeze, a charity event where football personalities were to be dunked in freezing water.
In a statement, Collingwood said its board "accepted Eddie McGuire's unreserved apology", adding it "expressed its complete and ongoing support for his position as president".
"The board and the club take the matters raised by these comments seriously.
"The Collingwood Football Club respects its values and its position in the football and broader communities."
The Magpies board had issued a statement on Monday night, saying there was no place for the support of violent behaviour or language - even in humour.

How to outrage people on Nicks and in general.
"Roughy, Adam Goodes and Caro went down the ice challenge slide. Roughy got pneumonia, Goodesy turned pale and Caro produced steam on entry."
This implies contempt for suffering, racism and sexism/support for abuse all in the one joke, even though its all just science and visual observations.

A prominent family report writer who has written 2500 family reports esitmates 85 per cent of DV allegations are fabricated or grossly exagggerated. I point to retired judge Collier who will back this up and says the Gillard DV laws are the worse laws we have ever made. Yes there is real physical violence against women. The resources are spread so thin by the liars the police and others can't cope because they spend their time serving summons on the innocents. So it depends of whether you agree on what violence really is. Is saying you are afraid of someone violence? Is not being given enough money for the household budget violence? Is what Eddie said violence? Under the law all of this is. DV is everywhere because the definition has become so widespread it has been diluted.

This has been discussed in the Vic Park tavern before. There's also psychological violence, all of which can have men as the victims as well, particularly the latter.perthmagpie wrote:A prominent family report writer who has written 2500 family reports esitmates 85 per cent of DV allegations are fabricated or grossly exagggerated. The problem with crap like this Carro thing is, IMHO, it detracts from real domestic violence issues, which are real despite the number of fakers and does need action.
I'm not a Gillard fanboy, I was prepared to give her a go but she lost me early on so I'll take your word about the legislation.

I am over and out on this one. Under the law Eddie's comments are DV. He would not be able argue in a court they are not. A court would tell him to make no contact with Caro and not go within 100 metres of her home or workplace. If he did he would be in breach and would be arrested and fined. A second breach would be imprisonment. Yes DV now includes his stupid joke.

What a pissweak society we have truly become, do these morons actually think he would actually do it ???? IM starting to really, really wonder what the hell my late dad and his mates fought six yrs in WW2 for, freedom of speech, expression, and off the cuff jibes now all in danger, what a precious petal weak kneed society we have truly become, unfarkingbelieveable. Words fail me after reading that extremist stuff.

Domestic violence is a very serious issue, but it's easier for us to attack the soft targets and bring down the tall poppies, rather to actually do something about it. So while people are clamouring foe Eddie's head, the wife bashers, rapists and wife killers will continue to get bail and go back out there and harass and intimidate their wives and girlfriends. The defence lawyers will fall over themselves to defend their clients through the free legal aid system. The defence lawyers will stand up in court knowing their clients are guilty, but will claim that their clients were provoked into killing their defenceless wives and girlfriends. And when their clients are found guilty the lawyers will appeal the decisions to the high court using taxpayers money. And the gullible public will think we have a just system where everybody deserves a fair trial. Meanwhile domestic violence escalates in society because no one wants to send anybody to jail.

You're right and the USA is leading the change with support for Trump. They are fed up with over policing political correctness and want to made a stand. If Trump gets up, other Western countries will follow.Piesnchess wrote:stoliboy wrote:Sack Eddie McGuire and his colleagues for horrifying comments about drowning a woman.

Re: Hey
So you reckon Diggers like my dad would go along with this rabid PC stuff now, get real, my Dad often told me they regularly insulted one another in jest, in their foxholes in the desert and jungle, Diggers knew how to make fun of each other, with no malice, it only made them closer mates. I saw it myself when having a few beers with dad and his mates, the jibes still kept coming, in jest, and everyone laughed out loud. I have no doubt the veterean community would view this for what it truly is,a storm in a friggin teacup out too get both eddie and Collingwood in general.Hiss wrote:Piesnchess wrote:stoliboy wrote:Sack Eddie McGuire and his colleagues for horrifying comments about drowning a woman.

Trump is the most unpopular (dare I say) leader there has ever been this far out in the election campaign in the US.
