There must be more to this than meets the eye. At the end of the season, we did not want top play Henry any more, there was even a week where Mihocek was out injured, and Henry was not even brought in to replace him.

i have no idea why this repeats three times. anyone know why?
We got wind he wanted to be traded at years end, there were whispers months ago Ollie wanted to leave for Geelong. I’m convinced the club made a statement by dropping him. Also Johnson and Carmichael deserved a shot, and Johnson was hard to drop when he got into the side. Ollie wasn’t showing enough ground and defensive work to earn his spot back, probably because mentally he was already at Geelong.

Other option we accept 25 and 38. We package up 16, 25, 27 and see if we can get up into the top 10. More then one way to skin a cat!

Pick(s) 16, 25, 27 = 3181 points

Pick 2 is worth 2595 North are open to trading it.

Would we do the deal to land Cadman?

Really covered off last few years but just stacking picks to the point value of a top rounder doesnt = a top rounder.
Maybe if a club needed points to match a bid (like ashcroft or we had to do with Daicos) then its a different story but you have to find the club, which there really isnt one this year as I believe Brisbane are set after (surprise Suprise) Geelong cashed in.
Mackie must be giving some under the table wristy type action to get the inside running on all these amazing deals.

Do we end up with our own future second rounder back again?

Instead of#33, do the Power offer up the future 2nd round to Cats for Esava (which they got from GWS, which GWS got from us for Hill), and somehow that gets worked into a Henry trade?

#25 and a future 2nd rounder tied to ourselves? Cats have to go and deal first though... I think they will be motivated to get something done - if they refuse to budge too it will frustrate the player they're trying to get.

The other one which has been mooted was a three way: Mitchell, Henry, some young kid from Geelong. None of these players are the same and on face value not worth the same value but would we accept Mitchell in (Hawks paying $300k) for Henry out?

16, 25, 27, 33 (41 if we couldn't secure 33)

for

6, 48, Mitchell

Pick 6 welcome to Collingwood Jyhe Clark.

Trumping Geelong for Clark (assuming Hine rates him worthy of 6) would make this whole affair worthwhile.

Failing that if Hawthorn wont deal Mitchell for something other than 27 and/or we won't reconsider trading for Fiorini if Henry gets traded/walks out would we turn our attention to Cooper Stephens and 25 for Henry?

Another option?

27, 41, 50 for 24, Mitchell (we take on all his salary)

We redraft Henry at 24 and watch Mackie slump in his chair. Again, that would make this whole affair worthwhile.
As John Turturro exclaimed to Adam Sandler in Mr Deeds, "I too am very sneaky sneaky"! I love your thinking Swoop!

So his options:
  • Play for Collingwood and ask for a trade next year
 Enter PSD and end up at GWS or North etc for 2 years(clubs wont pass him up before he gets to geelongs pick 25)
 Enter PSD and get drafted and refused to sign contract and play no AFL level for 2 years
 Leave Collingwood and not register for PSD, wait a year and register for 2023 draft.. (minimum 1 year delisted for Mid Season Draft so he cannot get to geelong in 2023 that way either)
Let me know if im missing anything...but collingwood hold more cards then him and its designed this way so clubs don't get screwed by spoiled brat's and their cawky Managers.
He's been at Collingwood for 2 years and fulfilled his initial contract.

He can nominate for either draft and put a price on his head is my understanding.
Pretty much. To clarify, the standard AFL contract is deliberately designed to finish on 31st Oct. This is why the trade period will always fall before that date and both drafts are after that date.
Right now Henry remains under contract with Collingwood until end Oct, so for the next couple weeks the club continues to have an amount of control over Henry’s future ( albeit that is automatically diluted when the player isn’t on the same page )
From Nov 1st, the club will have no control over Henry at all, so from that day onwards, he can do whatever he wants and we can only sit back and watch it all unfold ( unless of course, he ultimately re signs with the club before both drafts at the end of Nov )

^ that is very true, I guess it comes down to the targets North has in mind. From what I gather the draft is very even after about pick.15 could be worth holding our fire till draft night. See how the cards land.

If Henry threatens to walk himself to the PSD then we should threaten to redraft him.

Some talk Cooper Stephens has been traded to Hawthorn for pick 24.

Who knows yet if true but could mean we end up with 24 and 25 for Henry.

Conversely they might trade Esava for 33 and they look to dud us again by keeping 24 and supplying us with 25 and 33.

I'd be ok with 24 and 25 for Henry if it works out that way.

No way accept 24 and 25. Perhaps Ollie should reflect on how much he really is regarded or wanted by Geelong. If they think so much of him or want him so desperately, then let them offer pick 7

I'm sensing we'll hold firm and not accept the cheap deal offered by the Cats. However, I suspect Henry will then nominate for the draft and end up at the Cats anyway. Unfortunately, it would mean we get nothing for him. We would certainly be crazy to waste our draft pick on him, given his reluctance to play for us, when we could choose another young talent eager to join our club.

I think we would accept 24 & 25 but they won’t offer that much (even though in a pure market that is unders) while recognising there is no such thing as a pure market.
Releasing him to the draft is cutting our nose to spite our face as it were, good viscerally but gives us nada. Yeah might feel good about ourselves but that is a conceit we can ill afford in my view. I have a strong dislike for Geelong with increasing passion but why “cut our nose to spite our face”?
