correct it was jason clokeWhat'sinaname wrote:sherrife wrote:Didn't Anthony Rocca miss a grand final for a spoil that was exactly the same as the one Henry copped. And they focus on the last half a hand around the shoulder. F*** off!
Go pies, thrilling win that we 100% deserved. Credit to Lipinski for standing up and slotting important goals when the kids were missing everything.
No, Rocca elbowed Brendan Lade in the face.

Exactly.Pies2016 wrote:Todays win and last weeks result is the exact reason why you should never have that “ let’s tank for picks “ mentality. You stand little chance of witnessing a teams true capabilities if you don’t set out to win every game you play. Quite simply, if kids like Begg, MacRae, Poulter and McInnes had played today, then we don’t win. I know which way I prefer to go.rambler wrote:Season's mindset went from let's bottom out and get high draft picks to hang on a second we can take on anyone from now on let's give it a fair crack
And this is the best education for our kids anyway. They have to prove that they want to play at that level before they are selected. This is the mentality that needs to prevail.
This was truly a massive victory for Collingwood.
We established a new benchmark, a new level of intensity, a new cohesion of attack and defence.
To be selected, you have to be prepared to play at that level.
And the coaches are now perfecting the game style to a qualitatively new level, combining the audacious attack we saw at the outset of the year with the necessary structures in defence.

Jason Cloke struck a Crows player in the head in a marking contest in the 2002 Prelim
Anthony Rocca elbowed a Port player in the 2003 Prelim
Both missed the grand final.

Some absolute shockers, some weeks our poor kicking is because we take a lot of rushed kicks, but today they were all set shots and Ginny playing on and missing instead of taking the easy set shot.mgh3536 wrote:Very Happy with Murphy

Not true. I wanted to keep Cox.masoncox wrote:Cox Need's 5 or 6 weeks playing at least half in the ruck.Magpietothemax wrote:Yep, Cox was great today.
Definitely retains his spot next week.
Then we will be able to judge his true value.
As you know I have just been the only Nickster wanting to keep Cox.
Rapt that he did well today.
But we need a string of games to see how he performs.

Super important player and a great pick up. Good ball user and makes good decisions. Handy around goals too.sherrife wrote: Go pies, thrilling win that we 100% deserved. Credit to Lipinski for standing up and slotting important goals when the kids were missing everything.
Thought Ginnivan looked off his tucker today. Second efforts weren’t quite there and he gave up on a couple chases. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was well short of 100% today. He might also be feeling the effects of a lot off the ball attention lately. Even better win without him contributing on the scoreboard.

And then, yeah, we are very lucky not to give away a high tackle free with a second to go.
And we beat them.
That is even better.
they are bloody fast!
its great to see WHE getting back to his pre injury form, its been a loooonnnngggg time, Josh daicos best game yet, and come on bys, Cox was bloody good!
ginnie had an oopsie, but not a bad thing, he will be well aware his kicking almost cost us the game, and i reckon hes got enough spunk in him to turn it around, so watch out next week
someone wrote on the game thread, brown out, the red haired guy in, and we were like huh/ then irealised they were being nasty!
well egg on face, he damn near saved the game single handedly!
first time at the g since anzac day, as ive had the flu so bad, and mate, it was fricken magnificent!
pics later, i got some beauties! i few blurred ones ill still post, i was so excited and stressed couldnt hold the camera steady! cheers
go pies,
oh wait, we have now beaten 3 of the sides in th 8, three sides above us, last years runners ups have beaten......only sydney, who were below them at the time! they get the cats next week, i guess we will see who the flat track bullies are! both umpires favourites, should be good!

Great to win against the Blues. Dominated much of the game, just couldn't put them away.
Murphy's last 2 weeks a real positive. I remember Roughead saying in the preseason that he was really looking forward to seeing Murphy play this year. It's a good sign when a senior player likes the prospects of a young player.
Ollie Henry is quality. If he didn't have the yips against the Dogs and kicked 3 or 4, he would have had 3 ripping games in a row and he'd be right in the frame for Rising Star. Into $34.
Cox had a really good impact. Not too often a player at 31 has upside but he does. Always good to not write players off when they are still developing (think Noble, Cameron) or not playing in their best position (because others are in front of them).
And while we are at it, don't write Grundy off. Still has plenty of time to get back to his best and get even better.

I actually think we've got plenty of young talent, what we really need is a couple of experienced top ups much like we did in 2010.Big T wrote:Fantastic even if I wish we were tanking to go for a flag quicker.
Really happy for Coxy. Not only today but the last 6 weeks or so dominating vfl and now showing he belongs. Fly take a bow. Hope it continues. Mason is very likeable and a real part of our fabric and u can see the boys love him.
Grundy must be concerned.
A key forward, key defender and a quality big bodied inside midfielder are probably the 3 holes to look to fill.

All of a sudden we ARE a destination club. Our window will be open next year.
