Despite the ridiculously “flat track” when Australia was batting, this nasty pitch turned into a minefield every time South Africa took the field. It did look so easy-paced that it seemed they would make many hundreds more - but in the end they managed just 204.
In the old days, when a team got bowled out twice for near enough to 200 and the other team made 3 times that number, we’d have been talking about the dominant batting display on a wicket that posed real problems for the opposition. In the modern era, of course, we can only marvel at how the ball flies around and behaves like a grenade all the time, except when Australia is at the crease - because we know that only “flat track bullies” make 600 when the opponents can barely manage 200.
