Practice Match: Pies V Port - All comments here please

Post by Joel »

Well, we have lost our first two games for the season, but we must remember who has been missing in the last few weeks. Malty is testing the youngsters, which is crucial, because if he doesn't we may be left in the lurch if our depth is tested due to injuries during the season.

I doubt that we will see many inlcusions this week, so I think the side will remain relatively unchanged. Hoerfully the younguns can put up a better fight than they have in the last few weeks.

PLEASE HELP

We need someone who lives in Alice Springs to help us out with the Scoreboard on Nick's. If it is possible that you are attending the game, and would be able to send regular updates to Pies_Chat or Magpiemad, then we would really appreciate it if you could please check out this thread: http://www.magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?t=15732

Collingwood is concerned about the state of the ground in Alice

Collingwood has conceded it has little choice but to trust the AFL on the issue of regional turf standards ahead of Friday night's practice match against Port Adelaide in Alice Springs.

Based on Saturdays form we will lose.

Given the hot weather that is more than likely i hope Shack gets a full game and is made to play in long sleeves. Maybe the Shack can sweat off the extra kilograms.

I would rest Buckley from this game and play Tarrant for a quarter at the most.

As long as we get no injuries will be happy.

Just on the weather there, I think you'll find it gets quite kewl at night in the Alice, although if the cyclone out west pushes inland it could be humid and wet. :)

Apparently a few players have come down with the Flu this week and are upset they will have to miss the game and are pushing the young kids to go up there and sweat their arses off instead of their own. :P

I have a feeling the Power will flog us, but hey, thats OK.

Afterall its a practice match in friggin Alice Springs of all places.

We will continue to blood the youngsters, as at this time of year thats more important rather than winning a practice game.

Remember those Carlton sides in the 80s that would never win a practice match but ended up winning flag after flag. Thats what Im talkin bout.

Well be there when its counts in September, not Feb/March.

According to the Season preveiws of 2003, 04, Shack has dropped 1 kilogram since he was 1st on our list. If he can drop about 2 more I'll be happy as I think his weight helps him and his ball winning ability.

No problem if we lose this one.
Give the Power the false hope that they finally have it over us.

BTW, just a reminder, can anybody help out Pies_Chat and MagpieMad, in regard to SMSing updates of the game? Is there anybody on here that is going to the game, that lives near Alice, or are we fighting a losing battle?

When these guys as well as Jonno and Pebbles come back in the team seems more 'Collingwoodish'. Looking at the squad, I'd say that this is the likely 22-26:

B: Clement, Wakelin, Cole.
HB: Johnson, J.Cloke, R.Shaw.
C: Lonie, Buckley, O'Bree.
HF: Williams, Rocca, Holland.
F: Tarrant, Fraser, Davis.
R: Richards, Licuria, Burns.
INTER: (From) Lokan, Nixon, Leonard, Kinnear, Shakleton, King, C.Cloke, Swan, Walker, H.Shaw.

The players in bold are are the palyers that I think will get a game.

I'm wondering where Presti is, he still hasn't made an apperance. Surely he's not injured? :o .

Any-way, I hope we win this one because it is Port and I don't want to give them any advantage over us. But, as we've said for the past 3 weeks - 'It's only the Pre-Season'.

Prediction: Pies by 32 points.

Presti is injured. He is carryin a groin strain.
Do not adjust your mind. The fault is in reality.
