Sick of these girls...

Post by Go_The_Mighty_Magpies »

Emily & I were just talking on MSN about how sick and tired we are of some female 'supporters'. The ones that care more about how good looking their favourite player is than the score on the board.

First and foremost a real supporter cares about the team and how well the players play, not what they look like! It's nice to have a favourite player, but that should be based on how you rate their ability, not their looks!

We've just met one too many lately and are sick of them giving female supporters everywhere a bad name.

(I'm not accusing anyone in particular on this board, in case it comes across that way. We were just wondering if any other real supporters out there were sick of it too?)

ABSOLUTELY!
People assume I'm only into the footy to check out the players - yeah sure it's fun, but I do actually know something about football too! Believe me, it's a really good way to get rid of guys chatting you up if you're not interested - change the topic to football, and let em know you know more than them!!!!
I'd go so far as to say I have NO desire to meet any of the players. How could I 'love' them on the field if I knew they were complete meatheads? This way I can live in blissful ignorance...............

true true, although this is a chicks channel, as true supporters we love the players for how they play and wat they put themselves through week in week out for us to watch the game we know and love. who cares wat they look like, some of our most valuable players like joshy, johnno, rocca are guns and are not very attractive, but at the end of the day who cares? GO PIES x

i honestly didnt know him b4 he got drafted as dont follow tac cup but i am going to get his jumper as i watched all practice matches and have watched every game this season and will buy (and u should 2 ) his jumper with number 13 to support him. He comes from country and has had to move away from his mum and friends. So he needs all the support he can get! even if he is a spunk its an added bonus to the excitement of watching him play!

who gives a crap about what other people think, why should you have to justify yourself to them as to why someone is your favourite player?

I gave up having favourite players, due to a large number almost immediately suffering injuries, form-slumps, delisting, leave the club, death (thanks darren millane!) etc. etc. etc.
Cases in point:
Paul Williams: filth
Ryan Lonie - my fave in 2001, now he's back, but how were his last few years
Rupe - well we all know what happened there
Tasesa Lavea (Storm player) - went from rookie of the year and playing for NZ to being delisted and now plays seconds for the Auckland Blues
Richard Swain (Storm again) - stalwart of the club, played for NZ, then got booted out of the club to Brisbane and now England.

The more I bag a player, the better they get (this is true - see how Josh Fraser has improved? Ben Johnson - all thanks to me, still waiting for Taz and O'Bree to REALLY prove me wrong, but looks like I'm up for more humble pie!)

so there it is........no faves for me!

I totally agree with you Emily14... But not with Dale (although i did know of him b4 pies too... coming from... roughly around that area my friends played against him)But with both Lonies...

But as a kid i grew up with my male cousins outside playing footy and cricket not inside with my chick cousins playin barbies hehe. I hate the way guys stereotype us chicks... Like at skool i could beat any of the guys in a quiz about motorsport... And almost beat them in a footy 1... Only cause i rarely watch other matches unless the pies are playing them in the short future... I totally agree with you about "groupies" you should see the amount of chicks outside Rick Kelly's pit... and then the amount of Adult and Teenage males out the back of Mark Skaifes... and Who has won more titles??? SKAIFE! (not in anyway saying that i like skaife... hehe Todd Kelly is the man!!)

But yeah... show those little groupies how you really support your team!!!!
