Ben Reid - utility
Collingwood's prized first picked, No. 8 overall, comes with big wraps. He stands at an imposing 197cm, and at the tender age of 17, you can expect him to grow a few more inches. In his "outings" this year, he was used as Murray's (Bushrangers) "Mr. Fixit", playing in a whole range of positions that includes centre half-forward and centre half-back.
If his

Son of former Carlton and Footscray utility Bruce Reid.

Whats the go people?
That shuffle on his set kick is the most worrying thing I've seen since James Manson played for us.
I know Mick is a massive fan and believes Reidy is going to be a Collingwood superstar but he is never going to be able to kick 50.
Seems a far better kick around the ground but unfortunately the goals are not around the ground...
He can't kick 40 meters and he knows it... tries to over kick the ball whenever he is more than 30 meters out...
Have we got any stats on how many goals he has kicked outside 50 over his career?
How did we not notice this when we drafted him with such a low pick?

That shuffle pretty much summed up our day.
Embarrasing!

he is 4 weeks older than Kreuzer, just a pup. i have no doubt what so ever that Ben Reid will be a champion, thats a big word, just because i say it doesnt mean it will come true but i believe one day Reid will be a champion.
forget about the stutter, it was nerves, what about how he carved up waite and killed it taking something like 9 marks, 15 possies after not playing a game for 3 weeks INFRONT OF 80,000

He was not nervous. He practiced the same routine another time.
That is his routine which he has either developed himself or had someone show him.
I really hope I am eating my words in 2 years but right now I stand by what I said the first time I watched him play - we stuffed up.
Comparing him to Kreuzer just makes me feel ill. Lets stay away from the K word.
I'm not talking about his touches... I'm asking how you think you are going to teach someone to kick 50 meters?
Its not teachable and you learn at a young age whether you are capable of it.

concerning to say the least. players who cannot execute their skills well will not be around for a long time. from what i can remember in his debut vs the hawks last year he didnt kick well either but he at least had a proper run up. this means he has developed this over the past year or so. get big BT to work with him because if he gets his kicking right watch out

I thought he got a lot of possies a long way from goal, where he was allowed to stray unmarked. Too timid and spindly atm. He needs another 10 kilos of muscle before i'd play him again.

Same, he's just not gonna trouble any sides yet, put Josh up forward or bring in Egan I say. Key forward is not a throw in to the wolves position.

One of the few positives to come out of Sunday's game. The kid will be a player.

Isolated one on one in the goals early was too big an ask until he beefs up as he gets older. Playing up the ground, he marked so well and continually found the hard footy. He will be better than most, he has obvious talent. He impressed me. I forgive the nerves, he will get over them.
