Wakes dosnt seem to have a player president... any takers??
Alot of people had Wakelin written off at the end of season 2006. He had a solid game against the Roos (and in his practice matches). I know there is still 20 games to go but im confident that he will have a solid year and be as reliable as ever.
Shane was drafted in 1992 and played his first AFL game with St Kilda in 1994. During his opening season Shane recieved an AFL Rising Star nomination.
Shane, along with twin brother Darryl, was de-listed after season 2000 as the Saints wanted to make way for younger players. Seen by many as the less talented of the twins, Shane was picked up (selection 49) by Collingwood where he proved to be one of the most agile and most effective defenders in the game. (Twin brother Darryl was drafted by Port Adelaide).
In 2005 Wakelin finished 3rd in the club best and fairest and equal 4th in 2002.
Shane has been a quality defender and a major part of our team over the past 7 years. He is yet to kick a goal in the black and white. He will be 33 in August.
St Kilda (1994-2000)
94 games (2 Finals), 19 goals
Collingwood (2001-)
121 games (6 Finals), 0 goals (to end of 2006 season).
TOTAL: 215 Games (8 Finals), 19 Goals (to end of 2006 season).

note: Shane did not play in the 1997 Grand Final loss with St Kilda as his wikipedia page says he did.
