Sad to see J Brown worn down by injuries and time

... Not!
Perhaps the Lions could return the Fevola favour and let the Blooz pay way over the odds to bring in Brown to play Centre Hack Forward for a season or three?

He kicked four against Hawthorn in round 1, so it may not be the end quite yet. But yeah, not a fan either.

If only we could have got him about 5 years ago. When he was still worth something. I'm not a fan, but in the same way I hated Matthew Lloyd I guess. Although browns thuggery adds to it.
But I still love either of em to come on down and show our boys where the big stick are
Cos we still can't KICK STRAIGHT!

4 kicks, 5 handballs and 1 goal in a 113-point thrashing. I hope the Lions stand up that well for his 250th next week!

Yeah, dunno... I've always admired the way he plays, despite what his team did to us in '02 and '03.

^^Miles more respect than Lloyd, that's for sure. Has always played the game in the right way and has stuck around when his team's been struggling, doing whatever the team needs of him. When it was even suggested to Lloyd that he might not play full forward, he sooked off and retired.
I don't want the Lions seeing anything like success for a long while, but I don't feel any specific animosity towards Brown.

J Brown has the makings as a fine publican and playing coach up the shipwreck coast way. He deserves that type of retirement, on his terms.

Always had respect for him and I admire the way he has kept playing because the team needs him.
His body is shot and it must hurt playing like that.

Good to see his team stood up and gave him a proper send off last weekend.

It takes more than throwing yourself into contests without regard for your safety to earn my respect.
It only requires courage if you lack the necessary stupidity.
Brown can try to tell himself and others that he has stuck around because the club needed him.
It's bollocks.
He's been a liability on the field more than an asset and he's held back the development of youngsters.
He was a very good player but he is over-rated as a person IMO.
Simon Black's legacy outshines his by a million lumens
