Basically saying he did not want to play for the Giants

Not a bad point Dave.

But at the same time, footy players have rights and one is to choose not to stay at a club. He was letting them know he wouldn't.

I would give my right and middle nuts to have Wingard at Collingwood.

Telling a specific team you do not want to play for them is not draft tampering. Telling every team besides one that you don't want to play for them is. Which is not what Wingard did.

He should be made to stand out of the game until he signs for the 'Pies. He can come over on the same flight as Dangerfield.

At least Wingard had the courage to be honest with GWS rather than stuffing them around for two years knowing full well he would always leave anyway for another club. I don't see it as arrogant or a form of draft tampering at all.

I can't exactly blame him for not wanting to play for an untried club either. He'll be happy with his current situation as he's a Sturt boy and the Power have risen dramatically in the past 18 months with him playing a predominant role in there rise up the ladder.

If Wingard played Collingwood, I'd be ecstatic but that won't happen so may as well forget about the idea of it ever happening.
