The ideal situation: knock out Lions, knock out Dees, beat North in the GF. But this game will be an uphill battle and the Dees, imo, are the best team in the comp this year. For us to play North, means the Crows would need to lose a home prelim too. Freo looked like being one of the premium teams but have fallen off a little bit and now play North in Victoria and I think North can take them out.
We owe Brisbane a finals loss from last year. It'd be great to get one back on them and this is our chance. Win and we play the Dees at Casey Fields.

I hate being pessimistic, but even without Covid this year's team is not going to get anywhere near the Grand Final. I can't believe how many players this year have underperformed compared to last season. We had minimal changes to last year's list, but it feels like we're starting from scratch yet again. We were supposed to be better this year than last, but with the injury to Davey it seems the rest of the team gave up early with a few exceptions. We have not beaten any of the teams above us. Infact most of them have thrashed us. I expect that trend to continue in the finals - but hopefully not the thrashing part!
I don't know how they go forward from here. If next season begins in August, as rumoured we will still be without Davey & Bonnici. And the teams below us are going to keep getting better. We may not even make the finals next season! It's time for the girls who have not contributed well enough to step up and put in. If they do that, anything is possible. Even without Davey & Bonnici!

except in the unlikely scenario where the Pies make the GF, it can now no longer be in Victoria as North were the only Victorian team we could have faced in the final game of the season.Dark Beanie wrote:Whatever the result against the Lions, I am happy today.
North lost to Freo, another finals loss for North.
For that to happen of course; Collingwood beat Lions away and then the Demons. And North would have had to have beaten Freo today and then Adelaide away next week. Very unlikely.... and well impossible after North lost anyway.

This is going to be a tough game for the Pies with so many outs.
Everyone will have to play their best game for 4 quarters to get close to the Lions. Hopefully the Lions have an off day.
