AFLW Pre-Season 2022-2

Post by Dark Beanie »

https://www.womens.afl/news/96005/why-a ... ian-magpie

"In the absence of star midfielders Bri Davey and Brit Bonnici, will Collingwood turn to a two-time All-Australian defender in season seven?

The dynamic Ruby Schleicher has been spotted training with the Magpies midfield group as training ramps up ahead of their season-opener against Carlton on August 25."

Last night.

https://www.womens.afl/news/96496/roos- ... n-new-role

"ALL-AUSTRALIAN defender Ruby Schleicher spent close to a full game in the midfield as Collingwood and North Melbourne played four quarters of match simulation on Wednesday night.

With each term lasting around 20 minutes, the Roos triumphed 4.5 (29) to 2.6 (18) in windy conditions at Collingwood's home base of the AIA Centre.

Both sides took the opportunity to try out new combinations, with the one official practice match round to be played next week, and round one of the NAB AFLW competition to kick off on August 25."

None of that is confirmed.

Meanwhile, back with what is actually happening, half time in the praccy match against the Swans.

Swans lead 4.1.25 to Pies 2.4.16.

Pies had opportunities for goals in the 2nd quarter but missed a couple of set shots. Most the 2nd qtr ball was in the Pies forward 50 and they were able to rebound out of the backline until the last 5 minutes when the Swans scored 2 goals.

Good hitout for the Pies.

Pies 8.8.56 defeated Swans 4.2.26

Still plenty to work on.
Overhead marking and ground level ball a bit average.
Tackling and forcing a turnover or ball up was good though.

Good to see Jordy Membrey back in the side after her knee injury.

Match report and link to some highlights:

https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/1 ... tch-report

Apart from the ground being a bit dry, conditions for footy were not bad.
No rain, some wind, a bit overcast at times.
