Starts Monday, July 3.
Qualifiers in progress now.
Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek named top seeds.
But Djokovic short-priced favourite. Looks like an atrociously thin field. Sinner 3rd fave at 15.00, Murray =5th fave...
Men's Title Odds
Djokovic 1.62
Alcaraz 4.33
Sinner 15.00
Medvedev 17.00
Zverev, Murray, Rune, Kyrgios, Korda, Fritz 26.00
Tsitsipas 36.00
De Minaur 41.00

Anything interesting happen so far, Jezza?
Whole tournament feels like a downer. (Unless you're a Novak fan.)
A lotta rain. Some 2nd-round matches played before others' 1st-round matches!

The biggest news I have:
Medvedev has some sorta colour preference for his towels. White, not green? Something like that. He told the ump, after the ump told the players he had to order extra towels if they wanted more.

Jezza, did ya watch the Murray-Tsitsipas match?
I saw (only) the critical moment in the 4th set.
[Will discuss in new post.]
Does Tsitsipas have a tennis-playing bro? I see Tsitsipas-Tsitsipas in the men's doubles?

With Tsitsipas serving at 4-all, 15-30 in the 4th set, down 2 sets to 1, Murray should have challenged the line call!!
Huge moment in the match. Even if he agreed with the call, he should have challenged!
Of course, easier to say when you know the result. (The call was wrong.) But which tennis player has ever run out of HawkEye reviews? They get so many.

Great match. Disappointed Nole couldnβt get to #24 but Alcaraz was excellent.
Alcaraz winning is a great for the sport.

Jezza, what was Djokovic's on-court penalty for turning his racquet into a pile of woodchips?
Guess ref had to give him a point penalty, right? I think a point penalty is automatic if you can't play the next point with the racquet.

He was a given a warning for a code violation as it happened at the end of the game when Alcaraz broke him in the 5th set.
No point penalty was imposed on him.

Thanks, Jezza. Makes me want to poke around more into the exact rules around that.
I remember once McEnroe played the next point with a broken racquet just to avoid the penalty! After the point he replaced the racquet. Can't remember if he won or lost the point.
