The AFL today announces that the AFLW players will get equal prize money to the AFL premiers. It's the first stage in a push to get equal pay. Except it means the women get MORE money because they player fewer games - far fewer! And it's all subsidied by the income generated from the AFL, i.e. the men's game!
Already the latest collective bargaining agreement has hit a snag over this very issue. The guys are not happy having their money subsiding a competition that charges little for entry each week.
Frankly I'm over it. It has never been a better time to be a women or a minority in all of history.

Even as a supporter of the AFLW I find this perplexing.
OK to reward people for doing the same work but it is only a 10 game season.
As the game grows, work towards equal pay.
Same as expanding the competition, all done too quickly.
