AFL
Football World Stunned as
Collingwood Supporter spotted
wearing Mark Richardson’s Number
by STAFF REPORTERS

The football world was stunned last Friday Night as a
Collingwood supporter was spotted in the crowd wearing a
jumper sporting the number of Magpie Vice-Captain Mark
Richardson. Collingwood officials confirmed that this would be
the first time that a Collingwood supporter had willingly worn
the tall defender’s number on their back.

“Sure at the start of the year a lot of kids turned up sporting
the big number three, but when interviewed by our
psychiatrists, we realised that they had merely taken the six off
Sav Rocca’s thirty-six once he was traded to the Kangaroos,”
an unnamed Collingwood source revealed. “We’re just
shocked. This year we’ve had kids wearing Damian Adkins
number, Heath Scotland, Glenn Freeborn, there’s even a couple
of junior James Wasleys running around out there, but Richo…
the mind boggles.

In a Bladder exclusive we managed to track down the
potentially deranged fan, Peter Clifford, a thirty-six year old
unemployed boiler-maker from Cranbourne. Peter, who said he
had gone to every Collingwood match since 1973, was
surprised at all the fuss.

A transcript of the interview follows:
PETER : “I must say I’m surprised at all the fuss. I’ve had
number three on me back for Donkey’s years. I got me Mum to
sew it on when Stan Magro was playing. And then when they
retired the number in honour of the great “Stan The Man” I’d
keep wearing it as a tribute.”
BLADDER :But it wasn’t retired. Richo wears number 3.
PETER : Who?
BLADDER : Mark Richardson.
PETER : Nah, it doesn’t ring a bell.
BLADDER : He’s played over 130 games.
PETER : When?
BLADDER : Since 1991.
PETER : For Collingwood?
BLADDER : He’s your vice-captain.
PETER : Now you’re just being stupid.

Mark Richardson was too distressed to speak to the media,
though his manager did release this statement : Mark is
understandably gutted by this incident. He only had sixteen
games to go to break Frank Gumbleton’s all time record of one
hundred and forty-seven games played without a fan wearing
his number.”

RIP...My mate Jack
