I can buy it here in Thailand and one of the few things I know will not be devoured by the Thai locusts that ocasionally visit. That said Tukky the wonder poodle
loves the crust off the toast with a bit of vegemite.
I can get Bega or Mainland cheese here and with some sort of half reasonable crackers (sent Jatz cracked pepper crackers. stop. Urgent.stop) and a bit of vegemite it goes down a traet with even the worst red wines. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Amongst my emergency rations in my bottom drawer pantry at work is a tube of Vegemite, dry biscuits and processed cheese wedges that don't need refrigeration.
Easy breakfast with a cup of tea. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Local primary school has banned kids using mobile phones in the playground.
Some kids have been accessing porn and showing their friends _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

Yes and no.
It demonstrates that kids need to be educated - by their parents - about how to use electronic devices & the internet appropriately. It is a fairly middle class area so it's not like we are talking about about uneducated parents.
What the school does have is an issue with parents who don't take responsibility or accept that their child would do anything wrong. There would certainly be a % of parents who would be upset about any restrictions on mobile phones at school. _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

I think the idea of giving kids unrestricted access to the internet is definitely a serious problem. Perhaps this is where parents need to be either putting locks on the phones or buying their kids an old Nokia or something instead. Really, there's no reason why a child under the age of, say, 13, should need a smartphone. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Phones should be banned in the play grounds during school time in any case. The kids should be out running around and socialising not staring at their bloody phones all lunchtime. Can you imagine the chaos if the school catches on fire. A few will perish and the parents will be up in arms when there own lack of direction was to blame. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

I agree. Also the fact we are talking about a primary school! Gees my daughter is only 3 years out of high school, and their phones had to stay in their locker from before school to after school. Of course they all had them tucked in their bras but still! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

In years to come, I suspect we will look back at smartphones as a kind of educational holocaust. I think they should be banned at school, and I am not sure that they should not be banned in society at large until age 18, like alcohol and gambling. There is a lot of emerging evidence that they are deeply damaging to memory, attention, and psychological, emotional well-being.
An article I read recently said that in Singapore, most schools confiscate any phone found being used in school hours, and a court recently upheld the school’s right to confiscate the phone for three months (!). This ban is apparently widely upheld by Singaporean parents, who still value education above hedonism. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

I look forward to see how you go with that discussion in about 10 years time. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Warrick Capper on 1987 countdown. My weekly fix on sunday night in Thailand. Black sorrowds and Hoodoo gurus saved the day and Crowded House.
Interesting trivia question for those that go to trivia nights. last song played on Countdown. Don't dream its over. Also the original name of the band Crowded House was The Millanes but the record company vetoed it. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

So after about 6 or 7 years of living on their property in a clapped out house, my sisters started renovating a month ago, a builder put in beautiful sliding doors and full length windows over looking the paddocks and hills. My oldest sister arrived home from work to see a tornado tearing through the paddock, and found half the roof caved in. She called the insurance company and they sent out a builder to make it safe, but before he got there the second wave of the storm hit and blew the house apart. The roof and the verandah are in the back yard, the new doors fell over, and the place is not safe. Luckily there is a little unit next to the main house, which is where she and her dog and cats were. My younger sister arrived home with the new stairs for the verandah - that’s no longer there! Main thing is they are all safe. Guess it Shouldn’t be too hard to think of the rest of my sisters Christmas present now! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

The whole extended family (where practicable) turning up and cleaning up the block with perhaps a picnic for lunch and BBQ for dinner would probably the best gift she could have. Maybe throw in 20 dollar kris kringle to go with lunch. Best of luck to your sister. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |
